Will NOT be staying here again - felt targeted.
I went to this hotel with a couple friends for my 25th birthday. Knowing full well of their noise policy I did not think it would be an issue as we would be out exploring 90% of the time. As we checked in, right away we were made aware again of the no noise policy and I said I am aware, we will be out for the night within an hour to do some tours. As we got back later on in the night the front desk claimed we had multiple noise complaints, which I found confusing considering we had not been in the hotel all evening. In the morning during check out the front desk had the maid thoroughly inspect our room to make sure nothing was broken or damaged before we could leave and get our deposit back. At this point I felt a little harassed. I have worked front desk in a hotel and had never done this - that is why the credit card is on hand. We had left the room spotless and even sorted the garbage and recycling. I felt very judged as no one else checking out was treated that way, just because we were a group of 4 girls for a birthday does not mean we were going to be disrespectful and out of hand, we are adults. I will never be staying here again, god forbid I cough too loudly and loose my whopping deposit.

5/10 bad experience
When we got to the hotel, the staff was unorganized and it took 20 minutes for someone to help us. They also needed 3 people to check us in because they didn't know what they were doing. The hotel also had unexpected renovations going on that we were not notified of upon booking the reservation. We got checked into the wrong room and when we called down the man was trying to convince us that it was the correct room until we showed him our reservation pictures. We were also told about unexpected parking fees. We payed $400 to stay at this hotel.. I don't know why we weren't granted at least 1 free parking space? The hotel hallways were gross... paint was peeling off the walls and wifi boxes were hanging down from the ceiling. The hallways and the room had a disgusting muggy smell and some of the lights in the room weren't working which made the room pretty dim. We had a good time in the room but the overall service was bad and I would never stay here again. 3 days later, my boyfriend was charged twice of almost $100 for parking fees when we only payed for one vehicle to be parked so we had to contact the hotel. Also... the room had a $1000 deposit fee which was crazy because the room wasn't in the best condition for the fee to be that high. It took over a week for that fee to be put back on our credit card. Also.. overnight there were loud and scary creaking noises that woke us up... we thought there was someone in our room at 4am. Overall a very bad experience.

Perfect location for downtown Toronto
The Hotel has a perfect location close to Bloor Street, Younge Street, Bay Street and Dundas - all within walking distance and two subway stations are close by. Restaurants and places to buy food are also close by. I walked to the lake and to the Eaton Centre but again the subways are close. The apartment is clean and big and is comfortable. This is not a first class hotel but it is perfect for what I wanted. renovations are also not first class but I was not looking for that and they are all perfectly adequate. It is a pity that the windows cannot be opened more nor can one go on the balcony but this is a Toronto issue not one particular to this premises. I had a nice view. The kitchen could do with some bowls though and not just plates. The lobby and hallways are a bit tired but once again, they are clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful and managed to check me in even when Expedia had forgotten to send them my name. I can attest that the fire alarm works well as I experienced a false alarm while staying there but we all managed to get out of the building safely and the Toronto fire department was there very quickly and quickly determined that it was a false alarm. All in all a comfortable visit and I would definitely stay here again. If you want self catering possibilities, a gym and a swimming pool and to be centrally located and are not looking for luxury but also not simply cheap and cheerful, this place is perfect.

Good location for downtown but some issues
Booked 2 × 2 bedroom apartments for 6 nights. The hotel reservation manager was very helpful with airport transfer. We had some issues during the stay: 1) someone was smoking weed on 10th floor and made the entire floor very smelly and uncomfortable with smell coming into our apartment. We complained to the front desk but they could not smell it. Happened for next 2 days and hotel did not take any action. Third day I took the hotel manager and made him smell. He accepted the issue. I just hope the staff was more proactive to my complaint and taken immediate action. 2) everyday the cleaning staff only left 2 bath towels in each apartment despite 4 people staying in each of them. Had to request 2 additional bath towels every day 3) The air conditions unit for the 2 bedrooms is shared between the master and other bedroom. The issue is to keep the master bedroom cool, the other bedroom was getting ice cold. Need proper air conditioning expert to redo the aircon and e sure all rooms get equal cooling. Also the power cables were loose and dangling on the floor. We had a 7 year old child in the group and had to ensure she was kept away from the dangling cables. Some circuit cables that control the aircon were open. Huge health and and safety risk. 4) during our stay it rained and the rain water was leaking through the roof and dripping continuously into the pool. 5) wall papers in the bathroom coming off the walls and th4 exhaust/ extractor fans did not work in both the units

Get the Upgraded Room
I completely understand why this hotel has such mixed reviews. We originally booked a standard suite. When we checked in, our room looked NOTHING like the photos. It was an average room, but seemed old, was really out-of-date, & felt a little grimy (even though it was clean). I wouldn't have felt comfortable sitting on the floor (not that I would ever have to, but you get what I'm saying). Wallpaper was peeling, water stains on the ceiling, etc. It wasn't a terrible room, just not at all what we were expecting. When Hotels.com asked us to rate our check-in, we mentioned that the room looked nothing like the photos, and the hotel staff immediately upgraded us to a nicer room. Once we were in the upgraded room, our stay was wonderful. You could tell it had been renovated. Nice furniture, newer appliances, more and better dishware, there was even a dishwasher. It was lovely and more in line with what we originally expected. It's just amazing to me how different the two rooms were from each other. It's as if we were in two different hotels. The staff was great: very friendly and helpful. The pool was surprisingly big; though, it didn't seem heated. The fitness room could use some help: old machines, some broken, no weights. Location was also a bonus, just a short walk to the subway and surrounded by tons of restaurants and shopping. Wifi was slooow. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. If we had stayed in our original room, I'm not sure if I would feel the same.
