Good 6.0
Hotel is in major need of upgrade. Charging mainly for prime location.

Poor 2.0
Old, tired, and falling apart
So disappointing. The Taj is under going renovations due to last until Spring 2020. Make no mistake - it’s marketed as “old world charm”, it’s old, dusty, and so tired. Rooms are huge, but decor from the 1980s, a/c didn’t work, lights flickering in the hallway, and very little service to be seen. Sockets and units hanging off the wall. Stay ANYWHERE but here

Exceptional 10.0
We loved it and we will be back!
We had the most amazing time. The hotel is perfectly located and close to the subway for easy access to all areas of the city. Ok, there is construction work DURING THE DAY. Unless you intend staying in bed all day - you won’t notice it. The rooms are lovely and immaculately clean but the hotel is a little tired hence the upgrade work. Staff are welcoming and genuinely helpful and friendly. Breakfast which was continental, was very nice indeed. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, the bed linen is of beautiful quality. Towels were large enough to go around a large body (mine) and L’Occitane toiletries were complimentary along with gowns and slippers. Aircon was installed but we prefer fresh air and were glad the sash windows opened enough to allow fresh air in. Tip. When booking ask for a park view room. The park is beautiful and bustling with joggers, dog walkers and people just enjoying a walk. There are lots of squirrels who are very used to humans.

Poor 2.0
I have used this hotel many times before and have enjoyed previous stays. On this occasion I booked a three night stay through hotels.com and was not given any warning at all that the hotel was undergoing a major refurbishment which meant that it no longer had a bar area, restaurant or even room service! I have no issue with a refurbishment and I now see it is on the Taj website, however when booking through hotels.com I was not given any notification of the situation. Disappointing.
