Great hotel & location. Beware of wedding parties.
This is a great top-end hotel, right on Boston Common between Newbury and Commonwealth. It is very easy to all parts of the City from here. All the staff were excellent, very polite, welcoming and helpful. Very nice room, and a nice bar attached for a late-night wind-down. However, it's a popular wedding destination, and our Saturday night was disturbed by late night revellers. It was like being in a cheap hotel in the middle of a stag/hen weekend. Unable to sleep through the noise, we complained twice, first at 2:15am then again at 3:30am, before it calmed down. We got about 5 hours sleep aferwards, but it put paid to our planned early breakfast start on Sunday and cost us time on our last day in the city, which was spent in a state of tiredness because of the lack of sleep, before our red-eye flight back to Europe. And don;tthink I am being over-dramatic just to complain. it is not an exaggeration to say it spoilt our weekend. If I was paying $80 and staying in a downtown hostel I would expect this, but not when I am paying over $300 for a high-end hotel. It just was not acceptable, and was equally disappointing not to receive an apology message from management the next day. I fail to understand why we were put in a room in between wedding guests from the same party. If you do book this hotel at a weekend, just ask to be kept away from any wedding guests, and I'm sure you'll have a great stay.

Welcome return to the TAJ Boston
Our return to the Taj was as good as our other visits. The staff are excellent and the rooms are comfortable.

Very disappointing - avoid.
We booked a junior suite. Nothing like the online photos. Plain cream painted walls - no paintings or decoration. Tired furnishings. Tired carpet. Unbelievably tiny bathroom - loo blocked the door, so if being used no-one else could enter or leave. Our hand towels at home are larger than the bath towels here. No water bottle by the bed. No flowers or fruit. No charm. Breakfast was close to inedible. Orange juice not freshly squeezed. Had run out if croissant. Ordered a smoked salmon bagel - tiny portion of salmon, onion not fresh, stale - had been plated hours (or possibly days) earlier, and left in a fridge. We have previously stayed in a Taj Hotel in India, and it was excellent - hard to believe it is the same chain (maybe it isn't). Not a mistake we will make again.
