Great location, amenities & staff
Great amenities and great location. Loved many aspects of our stay. Huge selections in the free breakfast although I wish the hours ran a little later to allow sleeping in. Loved the fruit water and hot coco bar in the lobby. Lots of nice places to sit and chill out in the lobby. Loved having a full size coffee carafe and refrigerator in the room. Thankful housekeeping kept us stocked with coffee packets since we couldn’t find small lose coffee or small package of filters near by. Liked the little mini store in the lobby with clothes washing soap, snacks, toiletries etc. my only criticism was the placement of the toilet in the small bathroom. It was placed in an odd spacing which made for awkward use... it was right up against the sink!!! No space on one side. Had it been shifted slightly a few inches it would have been much more comfortable. Would have liked in room bathrobes since we visited during the winter holidays and the weather was cold outside. The cost to sue the self laundry was expensive! $3.00 for washing and $4.00 for dryer and the dryer took WAY too long and clothes still were not dry after 1.5 hours in the dryer! Location in the city was great! Lots of little eateries near by and Starbucks and CVS. Just a few blocks from Rockefeller Center and the UN but far enough away to avoid the crowds. Just blocks away from Union station and 2 other metro stops. Staff was friendly, efficient & responsive. Would totally stay again in this hotel.

Exceptional 10.0
Stayed here one night. Booked as a non-refundable rate on a popular booking site - got it for cheap...$127 before taxes. I got my brother a room maybe a couple weeks later and the rate dropped to $112 before taxes. Impressive. I figured that at that rate the hotel must be cutting corners and would be a passable stay. That was completely wrong and I was extremely surprised. The rooms are all brand new looking (I assume renovations were completely recently?), and they are huge (for NYC standards). Full kitchenette? Wow. My room had a full stall shower (maybe 4ft by 4ft? big!). My brother's room had a tub shower, but nice. Bathrooms were very very big and the bed was great. Outlets on both sides. Wifi was very good. My onlyyyyyy complaint was that the only thing they didn't renovate was the floor tile of the stall shower - it looked like your old 1970's tile that needed major updates. Nothing was functionally wrong, but it didnt work too well with the rest of the bathroom that was completely new-looking. Breakfast was excellent. I expected, when I saw they offered free breakfast, that it would be your basic, crowded breakfast that you consider skipping. Completely the opposite. Yes, it was hotel-chain-quality food, but lots of options and big open space for eating, and the food was good, fresh (enough). Waffle maker, oatmeal, eggs, cereal, fruit, juices, breads, bagels, sausages, yogurt...

For Manhattan extended stay pretty darn good
The Staff at the hotel from front desk to bellmen to housekeeping were absolutely wonderful. Very accommodating and helpful, and able to smile, and have some humor about them, which for NYC is great praise. They were caring and responsive. The hotel has high traffic so things like carpets in the hallways look like they could do with at least a good cleaning, the free breakfast is a rather unpleasant stampede of people elbowing their way to bad scrambled eggs etc. so I would skip that. Reminded me of international highway roadhouse restaurants. The only other thing I would beg for would be a decent sofa bed. It was an option we needed to use, and although the staff tried to pad it with blankets to soften the dreaded bar in the mid back it was really quite inadequate. I am also concerned with the lack of safety bars and non skid surfaces in the bath/shower. Those should be in every room. We were given an option to switch to room with a shower( ADA I am sure) but there was construction on that side of the building and the front desk advised us against it because of the noise. My mother who is 88 and in pretty good shape could not turn the shower bath faucet on, and was extremely careful in the bath/shower. Those who are slightly unsteady on their feet in a bath shower should avoid this. I am in a comparable extended stay hotel on business in Chicago for two weeks now and it is properly outfitted.

Fair 4.0
Terrible experience
When I came to check in the front desk they gave me a very hard time and wouldn't allow me because my husband made the hotel reservation. I explained he would be coming later as he was in a meeting. I must of waited 25-30 minutes in the lobby they asked for my husband to call Expedia to verify who he is and that his wife would be checking in first. Terrible manager on staff. When I called my husband and handed her my cell phone to ask him any questions she said he should call again the hotels main land line. Still waiting with all my luggage etc and the manager knowing I need to check in she really took her time and put him on hold. Very unprofessional behavior. When I finally got a key card to my room it was very plain fluorescent lights and looked more like an airport lounge. I just remember the horrible 1980's brown tile in the bathroom. Never again

Most of the staff were very nice. The breakfast was a very nice surprise with lots of options and plentiful portions. The front desk staff could have been more friendly (especially the females). They didn't always act like they wanted to speak to you unless you spoke first. The men on front desk were friendlier when we checked in on the 12th. Our room was also surprisingly spacious and very well kept up during our week's stay. We had asked for blankets instead of a duvet beforehand, but it was not that way when we checked in. We asked again the next morning and they said they would make sure it happened. It didn't. We even caught our room attendant once in the hall and explained how we would like it, but she didn't seem to understand. We eventually changed the duvet for the blanket ourselves. Other than that, we were very pleased and will certainly use this property on future NYC trips.
