Hotel rang just before we checked in to say hotel had over booked and they were moving us to a different hotel stated i wasnot happy with this when arrived at reception no mention of this!! Hotel bit tired looking, bathroom was in need of refurbishment and bar area seats and tables dirty, however bedroom was clean and bed comfortable. Location was excellent for what we wanted with car park on site.

Exceptional 10.0
Arrived at hotel, parking was very clear. On check in was upgraded to a suite with a balcony which was a nice surprise. Bar food was good with friendly service outside seating area was a bonus as the weather was hot. Resturant wss a bit pricey but being a Marco Pierre White Resturant no real surprise. Breakfast was also good quality.

Fair 4.0
Grand harbour hotel, Southampton
Shower was dangerous- either way too hot it could scald you or if you turned it down - too cold- not happy medium or tepid! Same for sink tap - you turn it on & it splattered everywhere & at one point didn’t turn off ... just kept turning. Dusty skirting boards & carpet at edges. Glass tops in bedroom looked as if they were on top of dusty cabinets. Coffee at breakfast awful. Didn’t even smell like coffee. Bar - couldn’t charge to room & didn’t take cash! & didn’t clear tables. Positive note bedding clean; beds VERY comfortable & pillows, which are usually terrible in most hotels were a delight. Towels fluffy, clean & a good size. Overall disappointing stay, have been before & found it a delightful place & looked forward to my return. On check out wasn’t asked how my stay was - didn’t appear interested. Wouldn’t recommend pre or post cruise despite convenient location to docks.

Great location and a warm welcome.
I stayed at this hotel many times pre cruises, and always found it to be good, although food wasn't great, so always ate elsewhere. I stayed in February after it became part of the Leonardo group, and the stay was so bad I vowed never again. However a great price came up when I needed a hotel in Southampton, so I risked it, and what a difference. Check in was excellent, the bar was welcoming and the bar food was really good and excellent value and friendly service too. All in all a very good stay and it will go back on my list as a good place to stay in Southampton. Location for restaurants and shopping is first class. Easy to walk to Red Funnel ferry.
