Good 3* hotel in a very convenient area
Thistle Piccadilly is a solid 3* hotel in between Leicester Square and Piccadilly Square. Rooms are small, there is no real lobby or common area, and there is a tiny room in the basement with two treadmills (so no gym). The biggest pleasant surprise was the big bathroom and the Nespresso machine in the room. It was also great that there was no noise from the street, although lots of noise from next door rooms, people banging their doors, and talking loudly in the corridor at all times during the night and early in the morning. I did not try the breakfast because there were lots of choices around. The staff in the reception were very polite and helpful at all times. I had not realized from the hotel website that this is a very basic 3* hotel and I was disappointed but if all you need is a bed to rest at night then you won't have any issues. The surrounding area is very touristic but can serve as a main spot to walk everywhere or hop on the tube. The wifi was not consistent but the tv was new with lots of tv options. The cleanliness in the shower and bathroom amenities can be improved.

Fair 4.0
We always like to finish off our European holidays in London. One of our favourite cities in the world. Usually we stay near Tower Bridge or Bourough market area, but decided to stay in the thick of it all near all the excitement. But we were very disappointed in the very basic room for a 4 star hotel. Carpets are not in the best condition. Your typical small hotel. We have been spoiled by the hotel we stay in at Tower Bridge as the rooms are spacious. Then when we went to go to sleep the sheets had a very noticeable stain. Which just put into question the cleanliness of the hotel in general. The staff weren't overly friendly. Overall the only thing going for it is the location right in Picadilly Circus area overlooking the M & M store.

Very good 8.0
Overall the Thistle Piccadilly would rate 4 stars. We stayed for 5 nites in the middle of October. We had a deluxe King room and it was not huge but bigger than most British hotel rooms especially in an older building. Great to have the refrigerator, coffee, tea, espresso machine and electric teapot. The bathroom was roomy with lots of counter space and a shelf above the toilet. No plug for the hair dryer in the bathroom. However there was one next to the full length mirror and one next to the mirror over the desk. Nice towels and robes. The shower had a rain shower head and a hand held. Personally not crazy about rain shower heads and the hand held was mounted too low to use as a wall mounted head. No way to avoid getting the hair wet. The grout in the shower had some mold growing and needed better cleaning by the housekeepers. This is a common problem in wet climates like England. The bed was comfortable. They could use a refresh on the sheets. Old with permanent stains even though they were clean. Pillows were very uncomfortable. No top sheet was provided and the comforter was very heavy and hot. The A/C worked fairly well. Our room looked out on Piccadilly Circus and had very good noise reduction windows. No problem with street noise. We did not use the services of the staff much. But the bellman Mohamad was very nice and helpful.

Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel
Central location , very easy to find. Easy and fast check in. The receptionist asked about our plans and kindly gave us a map and which tubes we would need to use. Really helpful . We arrived early so they looked after our bags so we go off and explore. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Kettle , iron etc. It wasn't a massive room but we didn't need the space as we only needed it to sleep in for one night. Air con worked fine. We loved walking out of the hotel and being on the middle of everything but when in the room, you couldn't hear the hustle and bustle of outside.

Very good 8.0
The hotel was in a great location in one of the busy, tourist areas. The great thing was that even though it was noisy outside because of the tourism, the windows were pretty much sound proof. Upon check-in though the front desk said to us that we were only booked for one night but when I assured them it was 2 nights he did fix it quickly. I do think for a 4-star hotel the rooms could be a bit fancier but I did appreciate the in-room coffee/tea/biscuits. The only issue was that there was construction being done to the attached Costa coffee and we could hear the noise from it pretty late at night around midnight and super early in the morning around 6am. Other than that a great stay.
