Never Staying Here Again.
The Congress Plaza hotel was my favorite hotel to stay at. I come to Chicago a lot, and always stay here. This trip was my last. It is an old hotel, so I can forgive a lot of things. The paint us peeling, the hallways a dirty and the rooms are always 80 degrees... This time was different. I was put into room 1311 and the hotel literally started doing room renovation on the room directly next to mine at 1130pm. They were pounding, drilling and ripping metal parts out of the wall. The dresser that shared a wall was rattling. I also had a conjoined room with this room so the sound was going right through the door. I went down to the front desk around 1am and the gentleman was nice and asked if I wanted to change rooms. Not once did he acknowledge that there was construction next to mine. All he said was "I'll put you on floor 11 away from the noise." Construction doesnt magically happen. They knew that they put people in a room next to the one they were demo-ing. I can forgive a lot, but this was the last straw. I am never staying here again.

8/10 Very good

Nice historic hotel, but limited HVAC options
Parking wasn’t at the hotel as we thought from the add. Also, my husband uses air conditioning year around at night and this add said it had air conditioning. When we got there, the room was incredibly warm and the heat wouldn’t turn off. Maintenance came and turned it off for us, which was very appreciated. However, we were told that the whole building is on one unit, so it’s either heat or air. So the air won’t come on until summer. So we ended up having to leave our windows open the entire stay (in January) to try to cool the room down. If we would have known it didn’t have air available, we would have booked a different hotel.
