Not so good
Hotel rooms need to be refurbished urgently. Staff not very helpful. Room not made up at all one day and not very good at replacing coffee and coffee cups and cleaning glasses. Extortionate parking charges. WiFi was useless On the good side. Hotel is in a very good position and the restaurant TGI friday is very good and a good price.

Avoid this hotel!
We would advise against staying at this hotel unless you are happy about not getting any sleep. There is construction going off on both sides of the hotel 24 hours a day, so all through the night you hear the pneumatic Jack hammer going off and even the walls vibrate. We asked to move rooms but we're told it was not possible as the hotel was full, we asked if we could check out early but was told it would be a $75 fee, we were told they could give us ear plugs. We spent another night with the ear plugs in but in the end checked out early, we couldn't stand it any longer. Do not stay here, awful hotel and customer service, $25 a day parking, hotel dated, damp fusty smell, no fridge, no safe.

Very good value, but service only average. No frills hotel, but price is very fair. Excellent location for the tourist

Great staff but a decidedly tired hotel.
Firstly, the staff were great with no problems in that area whatsover. Sadly, the hotel itself is really tired. My room, 910, had peeling wallpaper, loose shower fittings, no curtain over one window and just felt desperately in need of a refit. I could understand if the idea was to retain a vintage feel but you need to back that up with well-chosen design features and good maintenance to make that work.

Spring 2018
Hotel was in a good position, but getting a little worn out. The room we had was pretty noisy, not least because the heating/cooling unit in the room sounded like an old motorcycle engine each time it it kicked in.

There was mold in the ceiling, the corners of the room were nasty, and room was not ready when we arrived. Just really expected more. The cookies were good though and the person checking in was nice.

We were not happy at all
I did not like $150 was taking off my credit card for incidentals and parking. That should have been told to me booking the reservation. If I had known that up front I would have stayed somewhere else. There were no breakfast in the hotel we had to eat breakfast at the Peabody because our hotel did not have it. Next time we will stay somewhere else.

Good place, but with some caveats
I would recommend this hotel for anyone interested in activities in or near downtown Memphis, but with some caveats. The positives - the location is great, walking distance to Beale Street and everything downtown. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful and made our stay a pleasure. The not-so-positives - the hotel is NOT a newer property and it is showing its age in many places (older carpet, mattresses, fixtures, etc., some electrical outlets don't work), but it is clean and generally well-kept. The rooms do not have refrigerators or safes. Also, do NOT valet park. The valets are fine, but $28 a night is a RIPOFF. There is public parking down Union Avenue for $8 a day, which includes all night parking.

Would stay again
Our stay was pleasant wish the room was a cleaner. Found a toenail on the nightstand. Staff was very very nice and helpful.

Just Had to Get Away
Room was comfortable. Location was convenient to Beale St. Enjoyed the local fool and music. I'd stay here again.
