Very good
Excellent except for the aircon.
Osaka Dai-ichi was really conveniently placed to transport anywhere and convenient for all types of eateries and department stores. They have reasonably good sized rooms for Japan and the staff were pleasant and the concierge was very extremely helpful with directions. It had everything that one needed except the air con had only 3 settings high, medium or low. It wasn't particularly hot outside, but it was nearly always hot in the room on any of the settings. I mentioned this twice to the staff and the first time the staff member came and looked at it and said it would be fixed, but it never changed. On High when I put my hand in front of the outlet into my room the air was not much cooler than the air in the room and the fan was working to blow this air that made no difference at all into the room. Turned onto Meduim the air felt slightly cooler but the fan didn't blow any air into the room. I think there had to be something wrong with the fan. This was room 2210.

Very good
Nice hotel in a nice location.
Very nice hotel that was clean and comfortable. Booked a triple room and the third bed was a mattress laid over a sofa that had a tendency to tip over. Room looks slightly dated but was clean and comfortable - No complains. The hotel staff were very helpful and kept the rooms clean. The hotel is not directly accessible from the underground mall (or it was not obvious) so good luck if it rained. Lifts going from the underground level to ground level are locked in the morning so this is something to consider if you need to catch an early morning flight with lots of luggage.

Very good
Good place
Close to Osaka station. Starbucks in lobby. Convenience store ten steps from entrance. Can't complain about anything. Not that many tourist attractions close by, but the subway is near. Friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was very good...both western and asian food. Smoked trout was a bonus. Buffet cost around $20 USD, but if you went to a coffee place and got a coffee and pastry it would run about $8, so if you have the budget, it is worth it. I didn't go to any, but there are a lot of restaurants on premise. And a Tower Records in the basement.

Fair
Small and narrow room
Hotek Dai Ichin - The room is small and narrow surprisingly and compared with even 3.5 star hotel we stayed in during our recent Osaka trip. Its the most unpleasant experience we had among the other 3 hotels with only 3 or 3.5 stars vs this 4 star hotel. All I can say is probably its location and position whereby there's starbuck next to the entrance and eating places within the hotel other than that I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The room cost also not worth it for a 4-star hotel,

Exceptional
Good location and clean rooms
It was in a good location, esp if you are travelling to Kyoto and around Osaka. It’s very clean and value for money. There are a lot of dining options around.
