    Nice Hotel near Salamanca
I have to commend on the excellent staff at the hotel, except for one incident. Their Guest Relations Manager Yao Yao and Nieves Platero de la Vega went above and beyond their duties to help their guests feel comfortable and enjoy the city. I booked thru Expedia for 4 nights and was given a standard room, which was okay. However, the air conditioning and the toilet malfunction, so I was moved to a suite as that was the only room they have in the middle of the night. I decided to move myself since I didn't want to bother the hotel staff. The next day when I came back from a long day, my keys did not work. Apparently they locked me out. The lady at the front desk asked if I could move or pay more for my room. I didn't expect that. So, I told her that I would neither move nor pay more. Eventually, she let me stay in the room. I think this is very bad hotel policy, and leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. I have traveled all over and when I get upgraded due to lack of rooms, never have I been asked to pay more or move. Especially since the room is vacant anyhow. I would have given the hotel a 5 star except for this one incident. I have to admit that except for that one incident, the hotel staffs have been excellent and more than helpful to address any issue or concern the customers have. The hotel is within walking distance to good eating places and shopping in Salamanca. I would highly recommend the place to stay.

    Exceptional 10.0
I loved the size and location of the room. Right smacked in the heart of the shopping district of Colon and Goya, find all your high street fashion brands and even the only department store of Spain just within walking distance. Though a single room, it can even fit up to two people comfortably. I liked that the room separates itself from the “hallway” and bath room. Natural light spills into the room, the shower and bathroom is large and comfortable, most importantly very well lit. Service was great and price was reasonable considering it to be at the heart of the city. Also just about 15 mins by Uber to the airport (20euros) or just a short walk to the airport train at Recoletos station. To note that there are stairs leading down to the tracks so don’t recommend it if you have large luggages.

    A great find!
We had a great time at the NH Collection Hotel Colon. Upon arrival, all of the staff were super helpful and had arranged for early check in and rooms next door to one another as requested! We were also given a lovely Spanish fan to combat the soaring temperatures. The rooms were a great size, lovely and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't pay for breakfast so couldn't comment on this, however everything else was great. There is a lovely pool area - although I would say this is the one bit of the hotel that needs a bit of TLC. The only downside was the price of the drinks poolside - upon arrival we were kindly offered a drink which we charged to the room. We asked for a menu but apparently they didn't have problem we just chose the drinks we wanted, however upon check out we were shocked that our bill was over 100 euros for just 8 drinks (including numerous sangria's!) It would have been nice to know the prices, as we probably wouldn't have ordered the drinks as we did - just something to be aware of. Otherwise, it was brilliant!

    Excellent Hotel
We recently stayed at NH Collection Colon for a week and we had a great time. It's a beautifully renovated hotel, the room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was absolutely fantastic! Lovely and helpful staff too! It was about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Madrid- a lovely walk along a pedestrianised boulevard. The only downside to this hotel is the pool. We chose the hotel so that we could spend some time relaxing by the pool, but didn't bother in the end. The pool area was character-less and looked a bit run-down (it was clean though!). It didn't match the lovely modern and crisp interior of the rest of the hotel and there was never anyone there when we went for a look! So a fantastic hotel that we can would definitely return to and recommend to others, but only if you don't want a pool!

    Fair 4.0
hotel is very nice in almost every way. The lobby is just ok, but our room was big and nice. BUT.... it is October and they do not run the ac in October; so the room was way too hot. On top of that, they have double beds; not queen size, but double. WAY too small. If you are ok with a double sized bed, and it is not a shoulder season when you may need the ac, this hotel is nice. The location is ok; not close enough to anything, but Madrid is a big city and most things you want are pretty far apart.
