What a lovely last minute booking we made - great find albeit in the middle of nowhere 😂 We were made very welcome from the minute we arrived until we went home. Homemade biscuits were a lovely touch in the room. Nothing was any trouble, the staff were amazing. The property was a fabulous period property in a quiet location. Food was very good, vast menu, fresh local ingredients - excellent choice. If I had one criticism, it would be milk for tea/coffee in the rooms - there is a fridge in the hallway with milk to fill a small jug from your room. It’s great to have fresh milk, however when I went to the fridge so I could make a morning cuppa, the fridge was bare ☹️ missed my morning cuppa - I would suggest having a couple of large jugs of milk so that there is always milk available. but other than that it was fab. Breakfast was included and was nice - to avoid waste it’s cook to order and I’m sure you could just ask for more if wanted.

This was a wonderful property which friendly staff. The bar is shut in the afternoon and reopens at 6PM. The food is of a high standard and the breakfast was fantastic. If you near Bridport and you need somewhere to stay this is a must.

If you fancy a comfortable, clean and friendly Dorset inn with the best of breakfasts and delicious high quality meals, book in at The Marquis of Lorne. Surrounded by wonderful views, walking paths and close to the sea. Great for relaxing without children, also great for young families - an excellent garden play area.

Cosy Country Hotel

Very clean cosy and comfortable hotel. The Breakfast was excellent Tea making facility and very nice biscuits in the room. A full length mirror would have made it perfect. 15 minutes from Bridport via some rather narrow lanes. Nice to have a reasonable check in time so we could enjoy a drink in the garden area

This is a lovely quaint country pub with a lovely pub garden and grounds. Very nice room - may be small for some given the nature of the old building. Breakfast good. Although only 10 minutes from Bridport it feels out of the way as down very narrow windy country lanes.

We like the location very much. We were out both evenings, so we didn’t experience the pub itself, which was a shame. The bedroom was a bit dark. The mattress was not comfortable, with a bit of a ridge in the middle! That is different to the classic old mattress with a gulley in the middle! Breakfast was excellent. We really liked the landlady, who couldn’t have done more for us.

Breakfast and dinner was great, very tasty. Great service from the friendly staff. One of the pictures on your website (Hotels.com) is of Durdle Door, and it definitely isn't 1 minute walk from the accommodation, it's an hour's drive away.
