Some rooms in need of renovation
I was attending a conference at the nearby university. The hotel lobby is nice as are the staff. They allowed me to check in early, which was wonderful. I was on the 11th floor where they were doing some work - I'm not sure if the have renovated the lower floors but my room felt like I was staying in a hotel out of the 1950s. Everything was clean but lots of older wood everywhere. The bathroom ceiling really needs to be redone as does the bathroom in general. The pictures of the rooms might be from the renovated rooms. The tub filled with water during showers and very slowly drained. The water temperature was impossible to keep constant -it would alternate between scalding hot and cold. I've stayed in Lisbon in the past and preferred that hotel much more to this one.

Good hotel close to transport and grocery store
+ quick check in and out + friendly staff + close to metro and buses (bus 783 airport and 727 Belem) + train station is not far away, good when coming back late from Sintra + close to grocery store + good air condition, not too loud + there are some English channels on TV + fridge with lots of space + pretty silent, except for when airplanes passing by, which did not feel disturbing + good ventilation in bathroom + good soap, not slippery feeling after wash + large shower area with bath tube = airplanes passing by did not feel disturbing on 11th floor (out of 12) = good variation in breakfast, mostly cold dishes, only hot coffee/tee and eggs = all visible areas in room were clean except under the beds where there was lots of dust - too high price for single travelers - free wifi was not so good, ordinary mobile network was better, once got disconnected from data transfer on mobile network too - few free electrical sockets and it was kind of hard to plug it in - did not understand how to use safe or if it was broken - bad water pressure in shower, took way too long to shower - drainage in bath tube may not have been cleaned since the water was not disappearing fast enough - ran out of soap one day - when ordered scrambled eggs, got it with some small black dirt in it

Just ok
The hotel is really plain, nothing memorable at all. The price is higher than other options in the city centre, and yet nor the area or the hotel are worth it. I was supposed to have a balcony according the the room description of my booking, but I did not, as these were the rooms of a different category (probably a mistake by HOTELS.com) I asked to be moved to a room facing the front, as the one I was given was small and quite sad. The new room was a little better, bigger window and more light. The decor was just ok. I needed to be in this area but I would not recommend it, the centre is a lot more interesting and more beautiful.

Exceptional
Relaxed and friendly hotel
We chose this hotel to be close to the university campus and it did not disappoint. We received a very warm welcome and a lot of advice and ideas about what to see and do during out 5 day stay. We followed this advice and enjoyed our visit to this beautiful City. The hotel was well presented and relaxed. Our room was immaculate every day with an excellent bath/shower room and a very comfy bed. We were pleased to have a great view too. Breakfast was delicious - great choice and well prepared. We also ate dinner on two occasions in the hotel and this was very tasty with courteous service. The hotel is located with excellent access to a regular bus into the City (and also the airport). As a result, we did not bother using the metro system at all, nor taxis. There was also a good supermarket across the road which was useful for picking up supplies ready for our days out in the City. We would definitely consider using this hotel if, and when, we return to Lisbon - taking into account the good value for money and easy transport links. Very satisfied.

Partially updated hotel?
The staff is great, even let me check in early. It seems as if they are renovating the rooms because the room I was in was not renovated - it was like staying in a hotel from the 1940s. Lots of wood, bathroom in need of updating, shower very slow to drain, etc. The hotel is right across from the metro, which is great. The hotel is right next to the University of Lisbon and airport, which is convenient but if you open the windows, quite loud. The wifi was really strong and easy to connect to.
