Needs a revamp, stayed in better and cheaper
Stayed for a few nights in room 19, when we got into the room the first thing I noticed was the smell of mustiness/dampness. The window was open to obviously try and get the smell out which left the room feeling cold and bare. I went over to close the windows and noticed that the inside of the window had cobwebs and a friendly spider waiting to greet us in the corner. There was no view at all except a load of bushes and weeds. I tried to turn the radiator on but realised there was no control and for the length of my stay I believe we got no heating through at all. The bathroom was small and basic. The toilet seat was loose, there were hairs in the sink and the shower curtain had mould on it, the soap holder was either rusted of also had mould. The shower was OK, it worked, hot water came through but there was little pressure and I could not adjust the shower head as it was attached to the wall, I'm not exactly tall but I had to bend down in an awkward way so that I could wash my hair and face. The TV was very small but at least it worked and had freeview. The bed looked basic but I was surprised how comfortable is was and actually had a couple good night's sleep. On my third day I had to go to reception and asked for some clean towels as no one has been to service the room. I had heard and seen cleaners but we seemed to be overlooked until I mentioned it to the reception. She apologised and we had our room serviced with clean towels within the hour.

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid at all costs
First of all the positive points. Looks nice from outside and in the bar and food section. Staff are friendly enough. Now as a hotel, this place should have been knocked down 10 years ago and whoever has given this place more than one star better sober up. I have been a customer of Expedia for many years and always trusted their ratings but this time, you got it completely wrong. The room was on the other side o this long maze. You go through narrow hallways which have not been painted for years. The carpets are disgusting and dirty. The door of the room looked like it had been kicked in and was loose. As you enter, you can see how old everything is in this room. There are stains on the walls, dampness on the corners of the window and bugs and spiders hanging on the curtain. This was not the worst of it. The mattress is in layers and looks like it has been layered and filled in with other old mattresses. (pic enclosed) The actual sides of the bed is covered in what looks like urine and blood stains. Forgetting about the stains and the bed bugs, if you are planning to have a good night sleep on this mattress, forget it. And if you are planning to watch any TV, forget it. The remote does not work and when you check the battery, it is so old that it is covered in battery acid. The en suite? As you walk in, you can see all the filth on the floor and around the shower. The taps on the basin did not work and broken tile on the floor. Do not waste your money as you will regret it.

Avoid, believe the bad reviews.
Worst experience ever visiting a hotel, I gave the place a chance even after reading the varied reviews some good some bad, we must have been put in the worst part. Where to start, drove 354 miles to get there and wouldn't say it was the most welcomeing reception we got, from the outside and even the reception and bar area were ok just a bit tired and in need of an update then you go through the doors to the rooms, some had I would say new doors in but we were put in the back, our room was small with three single beds in it, no room to move so I moved them about to give us more room. Stained bedding, mould on the windows, one light fitting was broken and hanging off, the bed was like a sponge and you felt like you sank down to the divan, walls were dirty, the bathroom had broken tiles and not the cleanest, the roof was a suspended ceiling and was dirty /moulding, the room was never cleaned,we had 2 hangers for 3 of us for 4 nights when asked for more I was just stared at and told they would ask house keeping, we did get more the Next day.the walls really are paper thin, you could hear everything next door. Went to the "leisure" facility and looks like they have spent a bit of money in the gym area but there are coffee stainsdown the walls, it just seemed grubby and in need of a good clean. Is paint that expensive, really. Like going back to a bad 80's hotel.we booked for 4 nights but stayed for 3, we would rather drive the 354 miles to get back home than stay another night.

Very good 8.0
Good value hotel
Excellent value family run hotel, staff we're all lovely. As others have mentioned the corridor carpets are stained but they have been vacuumed so are clean and anyway you don't sleep in the corridor! Room was a decent size, I had asked for a quiet room and at first there was noise from the car park which it overlooked but from around 10pm it was more or less quiet. Lovely white cotton satin stripe bedding on beds. Room was clean but was spoiled by the net curtains which were either dirty or had been so dirty when washed they couldn't get the dirt out, either way could really do with attention as they spoil the room and give an impression that it's dirty when it's not. Nice bathroom with corner shower which is bigger than some that I've seen in hotels. Plenty of choice at breakfast but some of the plates were dirty and the coffee machine was playing up but just mentioned it to staff and she brought me two lovely coffees from the bar machine. My husband is a vegetarian and although there was plenty for him, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans and toast as well as cereal I was told if I emailed ahead they'd get some veggie sausages in. TV didn't work but we didn't report it until the morning, she said she'd had a few reports so would get someone on the roof to look at it. All in all a very comfortable place to stay and excellent value for money, the staff are an asset and we will be returning to stay there.

Hotel review
On arival the staff were very helpful and we were able to check in a couple of hours earlier, but told the spa wasn't in use. Our room was at the end of a corridor with very dirty pink carpet. When we got to the room, there were damp/dirt marks on the net curtains and water stains on the ceiling. We switched the telly on and the aerial wire came away from the fitting and so there was no signal. I informed the person on reception who sent someone straight to the room. Unfortunately, they couldn't sort it, as they were desk staff and we were told that maintenance were not going to be in till 2 days after our stay. My partner then went for a shower while I went to the car, which had a rusty rail and chipped enamel on the bath. When I returned he was locked in the bathroom as the handle didn't work from inside. Again this was reported, but nothing could be fixed till maintenance came in on Monday. We went to the bar to order food and drinks. The bar, although set out lovely, had ripped seats and wallpaper. I ordered steak that was served without a steak knife, apparently there was none. It also came with a pepper sauce after I'd stated no sauce. Breakfast the next morning was average. No sugar out for drinks. The plates were still dirty from dish washer and I had to sort through about 5 plates before finding a clean one. Breakfast area again was beautiful, but still signs of decay/damp. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't fault the service they gave.
