Great Hotel, Great Staff and Great Location
Really enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. The reception staff were great, always smiling. And they recommended restaurants which serve good vegetarian food for my wife. They always helped everytime we asked for anything. The only issue we had was that the room next door to us were drunk and very loud (not the fault of the hotel). We spoke to the reception and they changed our room, although is was a twin room as thats all that was available. But we agreed as we wanted to sleep, and they changed our room and dropped off a bottle of red wine for the inconvenience due to other guests. The Metro is literally on its doorstep and very easy to find.

Centre of attention!
Spent 3 nights at Hotel Nemzetti and loved every minute. The staff could not do any more to make us feel welcome and ensured that all of our queries were answered to their best ability. The choice at breakfast was brilliant. Everyone was catered for and there was no reason why we weren't able to start our day of adventure without a full belly. At first glance Hotel Nemzetti may seem as though it's miles away from everything but this hotel is in a great location. A 20 minute walk will take you straight to the river Danube and directly opposite the Liberty Statue. Whereas a 30 minute walk north west will take you into the city park where the thermal baths and heroes square are located. If walking isn't your thing, then you can hop on a bus or tram directly outside the hotel doors which are incredibly easy to navigate. The mother of all ruin bars - szimpla kert - is a 10 minute which is great distance to stumble back. My only complaints are the size of the room and the noise from the road. The beds are huge which made the room feel cramped but we weren't there to see the room. The hotel have done well to sound proof the room from the traffic with two sets of window but this made the room very warm. We had no alternative but to open them window as the air con was too noisy and not very effective. Overall, the rooms were clean and helped us to have a comfortable stay. It really is a great hotel and we would definitely stay again!

Poor 2.0
Checked in after midnight. I was told breakfast was included. After receiving my key, I went up to my room and was shocked to find the room was already occupied. After checking into another room, I discovered the bathroom hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned as the previous guests toiletries were still in the far corner of the bathtub. Also, the bathrobe needed to be replaced as it was badly frayed. And upon check out, I discovered breakfast was not included. While this is a beautiful hotel, there are plenty of other hotels in Budapest. I’d stay somewhere else.

A Gem of a Hotel
From the start, communication with the hotel staff via email was easy and efficient. The hotel arranged to have us picked up at the airport and brought to the hotel, and gladly arranged for an early check-in for us. The hotel is a beautiful mixture of old-style elegance and contemporary flair. The stained-glass ceiling in the dining room is beautiful, and the breakfast is without question the best breakfast I have ever had in any hotel. The variety to choose from at the various buffet tables was astonishing, and everything was fresh and delicious. The concierge cheerfully helped us with walking directions in the city as well as arranging for a car to drive us to pick up a rental car at the end of our stay at which time we drove into the countryside. The Nemzeti is located just very few steps from the subway entrance, and the all-night tram or bus (I forget which) passes by too. We had been told by a friend that the hotel was adjacent to a plaza/square that was not the nicest, but we found it to be fine. I definitely recommend this hotel. We will stay there again the next time we are in Budapest.

A charming hotel in a great location
We stayed here for 4 nights on our first visit to Budapest. Check in was friendly and helpful, and our room on the 4th floor, overlooked Blaha Luijza Square, but was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning worked very well, which is essential in Budapest in the summer, the bathroom was well equipped and storage was adequate. The breakfast buffet was amongst the best ever with a huge range of choices and the artwork displayed on the walls, very contemporary, added colour. The location is perfect for tourists with the metro station and tram stop both right next door which made travelling around really easy. A big bonus for us is that EU citizens over 60 get free travel on all public transport, you just need to show a passport to the ticket inspectors. The building itself dates from the end of the 19th century and has been beautifully renovated. All in all a wonderful stay, great value for money and we hope to return at some time in the future.
