When we first walked in we were met by very friendly and helpful staff. They held our luggage while we toured the city while waiting for our room to be ready. They explained the amenities and showed us the bar area. First impression when we walked in we were awed by the outstanding lobby and sitting area which contained the bar and comfortable seating. What I was least impressed with was the poor lighting in the room and the positioning of TV. I also would have liked a program guide for the TV. The bed and pillows were outstanding, amazing was the pillow menu. The breakfast had everything you would want and more with custom made omelets, French toast and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Very good 8.0
Nice comfortable stay in central Amsterdam
A nice find. Not as luxurious as some other hotels, but a good location in central Amsterdam and some very nice little touches, such as free food and drink everywhere (including the mini bar - to be sure, not as widely stocked as in hotels that charge for the mini-bar) along with a nice happy hour type snack set-up in the lobby. The room was clean and comfortable, if not very large (typical of hotels in older parts of European cities). A nice bathroom with a good shower (both hand-held and rain shower heads). Don't drive, as there appears to be no parking that I saw. The included breakfast is quite nice, with an egg cooking station (adorably referred to as "live cooking") and a nice selection of cereals, meats, cheeses and fruits. The staff were great - very friendly and helpful. Not a big place - probably around 50 or fewer rooms, with one of the slowest elevators I've encountered (I tried the stairs - they are steep and narrow, again typical of older buildings in some European cities). The wifi seemed to work well. We had a room facing the canal, which was nice, and surprisingly very quiet (we were on the 3rd floor - that is the third floor for Europeans, the fourth floor for Americans). This hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum in one direction, and about a 20 minute walk to the royal palace and Dam square in the opposite direction, so a good central location.

Excellent hotel in a cracking location
Truly a home from home experience and we were gutted we were only here for a 1 night stopover. Only a 20 or so minute walk from Centraal Station or a 2 minute walk from the tram stop from Centraal Station too. Excellent location for exploring Amsterdam. The room was beautiful and a really good size with every little detail thought of with care, from toiletries, bath robes, slippers, hair dryer, ironing board & iron even to an umbrella hanging in the wardrobe. The lighting in the beautiful wardrobe & bedside cabinets was stunning, as were the carpets throughout the hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable with a choice of pillows and the option for more if the choice provided didn't suit. The temperature in the room was also perfect with the ability to change if not. Also an excellent sense of humour - coins had fallen out of my purse & landed under the bed, while retrieving them I found a card which said 'Yes we clean under here too'.....loved it! The rain shower was amazing plus I loved my free bag The staff were very friendly & helpful, always on the go, ensuring all nibbles in the lobby (The Living room) were replenished regularly plus all (free) drinks & mixers were fully stocked. Breakfast was second to none with a great range of options plus live cooking of delicious omelettes, pancakes, french toast etc. plus freshly squeezed orange juice. Without a doubt this would be our first choice if staying in Amsterdam in the future & I 100% recommend.

Exceptional 10.0
Small boutique hotel in a good position to walk and see the sights. Their ‘Living’ concept was really good with decanters of gin, cognac and whisky in the room then an open bar area near reception with beer, wine and everything you could need to make a cocktail. There was a cheese hour 6-7 with a variety of cheese and nibbles. Breakfast was very good with eggs cooked to order. The staff were all helpful and friendly. An email questionnaire was sent while we were there and any questions were acted on immediately- I mentioned that the bath towels could have been bigger and 2 minutes later someone was at the door with more towels! Would definitely recommend.

Very good hotel
We have recently had a 2 night stay at Banks Mansion. It is in a good location for walking to much of the city (but we are keen walkers). The hotel staff were polite, helpful and friendly. We arrived early, but they checked us in and stored our luggage so that we could go off exploring. Our room was of good size, with good facilities (we have never come across a free mini-bar in hotel room before), plenty of storage, coffee making facilities, TV and free Wi-Fi. The mini-bar was replenished each day (again free). The bathroom was huge with a good shower and all the usual toiletries. The hotel lobby was a very comfy place to sit and relax and there was tea, coffee, soft drinks and alcohol available to guests (again all free). At 5pm each day, they also brought out a selection of cheeses to sample (we did not get chance to do this sadly!). A good buffet breakfast was served from 7am each day, which included cereal, yoghurt, fruit, juice, coffee, hams, cheeses etc. They also had a cooking area where a member of staff would cook eggs to order - fried, omelette, pancakes etc. Very novel! Unbeknown to us at the time of our booking, our trip coincided with King's Day (27th April). This involves street parties the night before followed by a day of partying. Most of the shops are shut. We were very touched by the earplugs left for us so that we did not get a disturbed night's sleep! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
