This was a trip to surprise family and friends. Having previously stayed in the Luxor - 12 years ago - it would appear that nothing has updated there. The rooms are large, but are showing signs of wear and tear - the wallpaper was coming off the wall in a couple of places in our room and overall the room seems a bit dingy although it was clean. The carpets in the communal areas look like they could do with a good clean as well. The pool area was closed, not that we were told of this at check in and we weren’t offered a reduction in the resort tax because of this. The main gripe though is the cigarette smoke - if you suffer from respiratory problems at all - don’t stay here. Just walking through the casino area, made your clothes smell of smoke and 3 of us developed coughs from this. It was a welcome escape to get out on to the strip and get some air. We ate in the restaurant once and even there you couldn’t escape from the smoke as it is all open plan (and expensive for what it is). If you do stay here, I would recommend that you visit the buffet breakfast in the next door Mandalay Bay hotel - better value, excellent selection and virtually smoke free due to the restaurant being more enclosed but with great views over the garden. We wouldn’t stay at the Luxor again.

    Very basic
We had an overall decent stay at the Luxor. We just didn't feel we received much for our money. For 5 nights we paid $197 resort fee that you don't really get anything for. The location is further up the strip so it's a good 15min walk to say the Bellagio. We stayed on the 15th floor in one of the rooms that hadn't been renovated. This went a problem as it was still a decent standard. We felt that we lacked basics like free shower gel but we were provided with soap. If we wanted a fridge in the room we would have had to pay $25 per night (which would be extortionate on top of the resort fee). Overall the stay was ok but I wouldn't stay again. For the price i'd rather stay in one of the basic hotels.

Stayed in a refurbished tower room which was pretty good. Bathrooms are a bit dated still. Sound proofing leaves a lot to be desired. Corridor noise in Vegas is to be expected with partying groups, but the walls weren’t thick enough to block out sound from adjoining rooms.
