Outstanding Location -- Right on the Royal Mile!
This hotel is in the best location with an easy walk to major attractions, bus and train stations, restaurants and shopping in Edinburgh. The hotel staff is friendly and super helpful. The hotel is clean and comfortable. It even has a spa downstairs with pool, sauna and steam room and gym equipment available to guests at no additional charge. For an extra charge, additional spa treatments are also available. The breakfast is the best I've ever seen in a hotel. You can get a full Scottish Breakfast and a variety of items at the hot buffet or you can order off a menu. Everything was delicious! All the basics were covered at this hotel. But the little extras made it exceptional. The concierge could call you a taxi or purchase tickets to area attractions for you. This was so helpful because I didn't have to wait in line to buy tickets. There was a complimentary beer left in the room. A mini fridge and coffee maker were in my room. The shower was always hot and there was complimentary shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and moisturizer in the bathroom and a mirror that never got steamed up in the center! (It was like magic!) An extra special thing in the lobby made staying here really fun: With Easter a few days away, the staff set up an incubator and hatched eggs in the lobby! Everyone was excited to see the baby chicks! If I ever have the pleasure of going to Edinburgh again, I will certainly plan to stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel again!

Great hotel - people, service, facilities
In traveling over 40 years through more than 20 countries and staying at countless hotels and B&B's, I'd put this in the top 5. Here are four reasons: People, location, price and rooms. I'd say this is true for single people, couples, small groups, families and business people. Let's start with the PEOPLE. #1 What started as a casual conversation with a terrific young bartender named Wojtek in the hotel's bar turned into a 20 minute tutorial on differences among various kinds of whiskey. This guy is brilliant, friendly and funny. #2 Franeesco (apologies if his named is not spelled correctly, as concierge, was patient, enormously helped and SAVED US A LOT OF MONEY AND TIME via his recommendations. We were able to get a variety of discounts on, for example, the hop-on, hop off bus, the Edinburgh Castle and other attractions because of his wisdom and advice. #3 There there's Jay, a hotel manager who leads by example. He's not tucked away in his office. He's in the main reception area, helping in many ways, asking what he and others can do. This spirit of terrific service pervades the hotel. CHILDREN: The reception area has a kid sized table with lots of activities where young children can play while their parent(s) is/are checking in or gathering information from the concierge. I've never seen something like this in the reception area. WELL done, Radisson Blue. Now- LOCATION: In the middle of the Royal Mile. In less than 5 minutes, walking, you can be at severa

I read many reviews here about the Radisson Blu that travelers were disappointed with their stay, but I have to say that I had nothing but a wonderful experience. The staff was so friendly and so helpful. My room was perfect. Big double bed, couch in the room, refrigerator for my use and a coffee machine with the necessities. It was spacious and clean and the bathroom was nice and big. It was updated. I had a small welcome gift of shortbread and chocolate awaiting me upon arrival with a handwritten note. The staff at the restaurant for breakfast were welcoming and attentive. The breakfast buffet was delicious. I had a mani pedi at the spa and the staff there was wonderful. The spa was very nice. There is a gym and a pool there. I didn’t get to use either but it looked great. The staff at reception was terrific. I needed help with my dress on NYE and a very nice woman came and assisted me. Upon my return, there was a bottle of wine (on ice!) awaiting me with a card wishing me a happy new year. The housekeeping staff was wonderful, always checking to be sure I had what I needed. I cannot say anything bad about my stay here. The location is perfect and I had a great view of High Street. I would stay here again.

A short holiday before Christmas
I stayed at the Radisson Blu in Edinburgh. The hotel has lovely architecture from the outside and modern spacious rooms on the inside. The hotel is situated at an ideal location, in fact the hop-on hop-off buses pass by the hotel during their tour of the city. There are plenty of shops and restaurants located nearby (starbucks is less than a minutes walk). Walking downhill for less than 10 minutes brings you to the train station and hop-on hop-off bus stop; Princess street where are the major shops are located for shopping. Room facilities - Iron and ironing board, 1 litre of water, kettle with coffee and milk or tea and hot chocolate. I didn't have a minibar at my room but I believe they don't charge for their minibar. The standard room was quite spacious, I was alone but 2 people wouldn't find the room small. The bathroom was not cramped up, and this issue of bathroom hooks didn't affect me, you can put the towel on the table, or hang it against the water shield glass by the tub. There are choices for the kind of pillows you would like to use - from soft as a marshmallow to firmer pillows as to your liking. There is AC in the room which works according to the temperature you set it, so you're warm in the winter and cool in the summer. WIFI was good and fast. I had no issues connecting it to my laptop or mobile phone. There is a desk in the room, so enough space for you to use your laptop or read a book or two. I Highly recommend this hotel.
