Faded 5* star hotel in an excellent building
We were really excited about staying at such a great looking hotel with a 5* rating, in such a unique building. We arrived, great customer service on check in, and were told where our room was. We had a junior suite, which was great, with a round window looking over the south of the City. The bed was comfortable, the minibar was a nice addition, the coffee machine didn't really work for anything other than coffee - frustrating as it came provided with tea and hot chocolate capsules, a kettle would have done and the downstairs television didn't work. The sink in the en-suite toilet was covered with wood and a notice that said it wasn't working and was waiting to be fixed, although judging by the state of the wood, it looked like it had been there for a while! Toiletries all great, everything was OK just a bit faded, paint scuffs on the mini bar and all over the wood work, cracked tiles and peanuts found on the floor when I moved the chair from previous guests. I couldn't sleep on one night as I could hear the guests in the room next door all through the night. When we left to explore I waited to say something about all of this, but there was a queue. Nobody asked us at any point over our two night stay if everything was OK - not even when we checked out. Quite sad about it as had saved up for a special treat but couldn't help but feel that we'd been given a tatty room.

Disappointing Cologne stay in the Round
The Hotel is situated in a reasonable walking distance to Dome and Main shopping areas. The Building itself is very attractive being a converted Water Tower. The rooms are " OK" but the Bathroom is small and I presume intentionally with old fittings. The Shower is within the Bath and future clients who have some disabilities should be aware this. For an overnight stay its ok but the Hotels car parking is a fortune € 25 per night and it's hard to park on the street locally where meters run until 11pm. Breakfast is more than the Car Park and astronomical €28 per person - there are plenty of sensibly priced Breakfast facilities locally!! What is a real disappointment is that for a 5 star Hotel the Free WiFi is terrible - in the Rooms it's impossible to work with. The shock is that they know its a long standing issue and nothing is done about it!! For a so called 5 star location this is not satisfactory. The Receptionists were made aware by several guests and all they can do is apologise!! In my opinion sadly whilst the Ambiance is great downstairs - the upstairs rooms don't live up to the Hotels rating.

Weihnachten in Köln
I spent Christmas week in this hotel and the staff was all out to make my time there pleasant and comfortable. The rooms (I had a suite) are spacious and modern in good taste. The views are spectacular. The bathroom is comfortable and towels are of very good quality. The restaurant in the hotel serves a wonderful Christmas dinner and on the other evenings (Christmas lasted three days this year) there is a possibility to eat in the bar. The breakfast offers a lot of choice, you can also go for healthy alternatives. Egg varieties are plenty and there is a lot of choice of cheese, fruit, bread, tea and coffee. The staff is friendly and efficient and I especially appreciate it they remember your name after only one day. My rooms were always cleaned while I was at breakfast so after that I could relaxant spend a few hours before going out. On Christmas Eve there was a little gift from the hotel. I always like staying in this hotel because they really make you a welcome and appreciated quest and every request is granted.

Disappointing sad looking bedrooms
First time in Germany so excited to stay in converted water tower!! Stunning exterior and communal areas but sadly bedroom was very tired and scruffy with chipped paintwork overlooking a building with scaffolding. Write up was very misleading as only higher level rooms have air conditioning apparently. Cheap toiletries for its rating and lighting in room was lacking, with decoration of rooms also dark, worn and tired. Additionally we could not see or use the restaurant on top floor with views as there was a wedding. The staff however were very friendly (Ulrik especially) and very helpful, but sadly only one person working on desk at 12 noon check out so long waits for many.. shame all round really as we loved the photos online and paid more for this hotel as it was 5 star but more like 3 star in our room! We stayed in Koln for another night on our way home in much cheaper Art Otel on Rhine where room was much bigger, up together and with a view of the River and Elemis toiletries!

Very good 8.0
We got a room with a quite small and old bathroom. The water pressure was not good so after mentioning it, we got an upgrade on the 8th floor, which was great. Each room has a balcony and it goes around the tower, so just make sure that your curtains are closed if you want some privacy, as anyone going around for a tour can see your room. That room was just what I would expect from that kind of establishment. The other one isn't. Just need to mention that there was still water pressure problems in the new room, this time it was too strong and the pressure couldn't be regulated. We had breakfast once. Not everything is presented, but there is a menu with more suggestions (eg. lactose free milk, special juice, toasts). I found the price a bit expensive thought (20euros)
