Don’t stay here
You could feel the bed springs. The ironing board was broke, the tap in the bathroom was loose. The bar that hangs clothes collapsed as I was hanging my clothes. The main foyer toilets we disgusting, door locks in cubicles were missing. There is no free Wi-Fi.

Horrid bedroom, dated, uncomfortable expensive.
I was in Liverpool due to a bereavemnt & try to deal with my elderly mothers' affairs as she's 92 & has just gone into a Home to live. I was very disappointed to arrive at check in desk late last night to be told that my room had been given to someone else. I was told that a message had been sent to let me know that my payment had been declined. I was horrified as I have a very healthy bank account and checked with the receptionist my account no. etc. all was in order. At first he said abrupty that they were fully booked but when I explained that I was travelling with my Golden Retriever and had specifically chosen the Adelphi because it accepted dogs, he said he might find a 'different' room for us. I was relieved about this and paid the same amount £149 + £10 for the dog, however when I arrived in the room (Room 316) a smell of must hit me as soon as I walked in. It was a small, dingy room, window opaque,overlooking...nothing. 2 single beds pushed together with 1 old wooden headpost. The mattress was extremely hard and thin. I could feel the wood of the bed frame. The curtains opposite bed were old, looked dirty and paper thin. Didn't cover windows properly so light woke me up @ 5:15. The coffee sachet I had was one of the worse coffees I have ever tasted + there was no artificial sweetener available as I am diabetic I always use this. Cheaper, chain hotels always do. Bathroom dated, bath marked, toilet paper cheap & almost see through. I would not stay here again.

Cheap and cheerful.
Hotel is very tired and under maintained. Needs investment to bring it up to a decent standard which is a shame as the history of the building is one of opulence and excellence. Staff were really good, couldn't fault them.
