    Staff are very friendly and nice. Rooms weren't quite the same standard as the images but still seemed good value for money. Room has very thin walls, you can hear everything, was on 4th floor and could clearly hear cars racing up the street and every word and footstep of people walking up and down the corridor. Worth noting that the hotel does provide complimentary earplugs (which i didn't find until I was checking out) i think finding these sooner would have improved my stay (my fault). Breakfast was decent, would have been perfect if it was hot, it came in varying degrees of warm. Overall great value for money but not quite

    Good stay

    I loved the hotel but I couldn’t sleep due to the noise from the road outside. It needs double glazing. The room was very comfortable and clean. Food was excellent. Was trying to book evening meal but got no answer from the restaurant or reception for about 3 hours. Would definitely book again but ask for a room away from the front of the hotel. Price was very good and so handy for the central station.

    We usually stay in another city centre hotel but chose the Royal because of the price and because we have stayed there before. Check in was prompt friendly and efficient. We were upgraded straight away (without our having asked) to a bigger/better room, and advised our rate actually included breakfast.

    Great value and lovely staff.

    Lovely staff,very friendly and helpful,great service.meals were lovely.breakfast was fast and plentiful.managed to park in hotel bay for £10 per day.room was huge on the second floor in a king room.views over train station.carpark at rear was never full lots of spaces.had to drive one way from front of hotel through carpark,no charge if under 10 minutes.to get back onto the main road.

    Staff were excellent in all areas lovely old style hotel with beautiful vintage tiling in public areas. Covid restriction and cleanliness adhered to-and all measures to protect staff and visitors covered. However rooms could do will a little brighter deco. overall a fantastic break will be back
