This is a gorgeous boutique hotel right by a thriving cafe and restaurant area, so perfectly situated for those who want to explore Angouleme. The breakfast was fresh with lots of choices, and I absolutely loved having long, lazy breakfasts in the courtyard. Staff are friendly and helpful, the bedrooms are small but stylish, with lovely toiletries from Nuxe. The air conditioning is barely noticeable, so we were lucky we missed the really heatwave!I will definitely return.

Well located hotel, within 10 minutes of local train station and close to centre of town with access to many restaurants and shops. The room was compact with limited wardrobe and draw space, no milk or stirrers provided in room for hot drinks. No mini fridge in room. The rear garden wasn’t accessible on Friday evening due to a separate function. On our return to the hotel at around 02:00 there were a few teenagers that had congregated and they should ideally be moved on. It could make female travellers feel unsafe. The town was lovely the hotel was sufficient, all in all a nice mini break.

Great hotel located bang slap in the middle of town. Good parking on site (€14). Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel clean and comfortable. V good breakfast. Meal in the restaurant Bistro Bardy was ok. (Many thanks to the staff for retrieving our passports which we later discovered we had left in the hotel safe!)

Love where the property is situated. We were only in Angouleme for 1 evening but could easily access many restaurants in quaint cobbled streets with live music and a lovely atmosphere. Later the live music at the hotel was very enjoyable and we were able to visit the market across from the hotel early the next morning. We didnt like the pillows, finding them very hard, but overall a really pleasant place to stay in the heart of the atmospheric old town.

Hotel Mercure is located in the hearing of Angouleme and right across the street from the Halles - a unique venue much akin to a farmer market with patisseries, bars, and wonderful food. The staff was wonderful and shout out to our bartender. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. The rooms are good sized, very clean, and fresh.
