Not a Luxury Hotel
This hotel was really not great, sadly. I wanted to like it, as the foyer and architecture are charming. But, that's where the positives end. Biggest disappointments: (1) I tried to get a table for an early dinner and was told I would be taken great care of via room service--I tried calling room service for three hours and was hung up on and ignored for the duration until I finally ordered delivery to the hotel. This was really inconvenient and the epitome of poor service (2) The in room entertainment is extremely limited and televisions are not very new. There are no on-demand movies at all, so be prepared to watch TV (3) the carpet was stained and old and there was a vague smell of smoke (as in, in the past it had been a smoking room and was converted. I could handle the very vague odor, not a big deal. But, worthy of a mention (3) the pillows were lumpy (4) the room I received was directly across from the elevator so it was rather noisy and there was a knocking noise that came from behind the refrigerator which could not be eradicated (even with the bathroom door closed).

Exceptional 10.0
Lovely small hotel - worth the stay
We enjoyed our stay at The Henley. Our room was a very comfortable size, clean and decorated nicely. Our only complaint was that we found it to be too warm. Unfortunately, the street noise was annoying (although eventually it quieted down) but the noise prevented us from opening the windows which contributed to us being too warm. I also would have liked more opaque window shades. I was concerned that we may have been too visible through the shades. We weren't pleased with the restaurant though. I am a vegetarian and found nothing but a salad to eat. There was not one entree or appetizer offering that was vegetarian other than some salads. Often I will have a simple pasta, but even that came with seafood. There was a risotto being offered as a side with one of the entrees so I asked the waiter if I could perhaps have a side of risotto with a salad but he made a weak excuse as to why that wasn't possible without making any further inquiries. If he at least asked, I would have been satisfied even if the answer was no. The salad was not large and some of the items that were supposed to be in the salad (e.g.: cheese, beets, etc) were almost non-existent. My husband's order was incorrect but this was quickly fixed. Breakfast was fine but nothing incredible. The next night we went to the Henley's sister hotel's restaurant (at the Morrison Clark) which was very close and we were very pleased. So, the hotel is a lovely place to stay but I wouldn't go to the restaurant.

Good 6.0
Cute, Good location, Loud Ammenties, Weird Parking
So the hotel is very cute, and stylized with old architecture and antiques. Everything was clean, and people were friendly. However, the AC in the room was AWFUL. It was so loud, and barely cooled the room on full blast. I could hardly sleep with how loud it was and unfortunately it was too warm with the air. The location was fantastic so it was disappointing that the room was decorated blandly and basic temperature could not be well conditioned. Also, it was very loud next to the roads. Sound between rooms couldn't be heard unless someone slammed a door closed leaving, so that was a plus. Secondly, parking was HORRIBLE. Online it says valet, however there are no real clear signs outside. The valet attendant on hand was awesome after I went in to the hotel to ask for assistance with the parking garage fiasco. There is a parking garage around the side (literally right next to the hotel) on 10th St. The parking attendant would not let us park because it was "closed" for the weekend... even though you could still pay and exit the garage anytime on Saturday and Sunday. (Think you would need the valet to lift the gate on the weekend to go IN, but getting OUT is ok.) (Again not necessarily hotel issue, but the parking attendant should have known hotel guests could park there. He tried making us reverse out of the crazy entrance and it did not end well.) Overall cute, good location, but loud, and a little disappointing with decor.

Poor 2.0
Very Dissapointed
I am giving this low rating based on the horrible stay I just encountered. I have asked that a manager call me and have not yet received a call. I had prepaid for 4 nights and ended up leaving a night early because of the complete inability to sleep. There was, what appears to be all night work, going on at the adjacent property. My room faced the adjacent property. Starting at about 11:00 PM each night, large trash trucks would start backing into the alley and being filled with glass and metal. It was the sound of recycling bins being dumped into large metal boxes. The trucks would come about every 40 minutes. It would take 20 minutes to load the trucks over and over with crushing glass and metal. This was proceeded with the annoying backup beeping large trucks make. These would be about a 20 minute quiet period, jst enough time to start to fall back asleep, and then the next truck would come and the process would replete. I reported this on the 1st night and asked to be moved. I was told they would move me in the morning as soon as a guest checked out. THEY NEVER CONTACTED ME TO MOVE! On the 2nd day, I ask about moving again and they said all the "new" guests had already checked in. Then the hotel stayed full and they advised they had nowhere to move me. Unable to sleep any, I checked out a day early and just left for home. They refused to offer me any compensation and stated they could not cancel the final night because I had already prepaid. TERRIBLE and UNACCEPTABLE!

Very good 8.0
Unique building, go for a suite
We stayed in the standard double room for the first night and it was okay. Huge bathroom, and the room itself was a pretty good size. It was a little warm so we opened the windows which was nice. I did not like the bed and linens. It was a hard mattress and the sheets felt very scratchy. The second night we had a Junior suite, so we just switched over later in the day. This room was very large and had a king bed. This bed was significantly more comfortable and the linens were much better. The bathroom was smaller than the first night, but it still was a good size. It also had a mini-bar, with a sink and small refrigerator. The building itself is beautiful. We had a couple of drinks at the cozy bar, and the bartender was very friendly. 10 dollars for a beer seems a bit steep to me though! Parking was outrageous so we parked it ourselves, finding a deal on spot hero. Half of what the hotel charged and only a few blocks away. The location was great. Easy to get around and down to Pennsylvania Ave.
