Wonderful hotel!
This hotel was perfect for our requirements. It was central but in quite a calm area and the staff were attentive and kind. It was very useful to have a kitchen in the room and laundry in the basement. It was good to be prepared with the knowledge beforehand that the hotel has no lift. This didn't bother us but the receptionist offered to see if there was a ground floor room available. Others may want to check this if they don't want to carry luggage up stairs.

We only stayed one night due to going on a cruise, however would stay here again, the room was more like an apartment and we could not fault it, the staff we very helpful, and the breakfast was served until 10am with coffee allay, we would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Vancouver whether to see the sites or just passing through. good value for money.

Money-grubbing practices
My particular big peeve with this hotel was the fact that they charged $10 to store luggage for a few hours after I'd formally checked out (which has never happened at any other hotel I have stayed in, they usually consider this part of the service) and didn't even propose to keep it in a safe place but just openly in the lobby. I was also less than prepossessed by the lack of any work surface in the room and the extreme paucity of power sockets, and the single uncomfortable chair. The complimentary breakfast was extremely basic indeed. However, the bed was very comfortable and the location is excellent.

This was the perfect place to use only to sleep at. Wouldn't want to spend a lot of time here

What could have been
Very confused check in. No elevator (if you have heavy bags, it's a workout!) and if you have a room by the stairs you will hear the loud bump every suitcase makes on every stair up and down. Wrong room given, exchanged rooms to include 2 beds. Dirty towel left on bathroom door, blood on comforter cover, curly black hair on sponge in kitchen. Their Egyptian cotton sheets are polyester and cotton, and very old! Bird feces on Windows, no screens. No mention of charging for parking until the next day. Generally out of date and felt dingy and not clean. With a makeover, this place would be charming and in a great neighborhood, but in is current state it isn't a great hotel and felt like a bait and switch. If there were other hotels open we would have switched, but it was late and most places were sold out. Hotels.Com were great about giving a credit and potentially a refund.
