Thavorn Palm Beach Resort Phuket

Lovely gardens. Sun umbrellas were very small and it was difficult to get adequate shade - thankfully the trees provided some respite. Breakfast buffet was poorly managed with platters not being replenished. Unfortunately the clientele doesn't make it easy for the staff as it's a smash and grab by the Chinese and Russian guests! The chef(s) couldn't cook poached eggs properly and we gave up in the end. For a supposedly 5 star hotel to not have a selection of herbal teas and decaffeinated coffee is a basic flaw. Cleanliness of plates, cups, knives and forks could be better. The buffet dinner BBQ in the Asia restaurant on both occasions we visited (gratis due to our complaints) was mediocre. Some of the issues we had were resolved but the fundamental problem of guest cultural differences needs to be addressed by the management. We would not chose to stay here again and nor would we recommend it to our English friends. Repeat European guests we spoke to had the same opinions.

Hotel was lovely and clean, lovely grounds, lovely pool, great swim up, nice big shower in room. Air con worked fine. Decor was a bit old school but was still nice and tasteful. Reception staff were great and very accommodating! They rang us a few times upon check in to see if we were ok and room was ok, this was a nice touch. Wi-Fi was good but didn't work well in pool area and would have been easier to have one single code throughout hotel. Happy hour was good! Staff couldn't do enough for you. Location in Karon is good, right opposite the beach. Much better than patong which is too busy. Kata beach is close by and viewpoint is worth a trip if weather nice. Some bars and restaurants around. Lots of taxis if u want to go to patong or anywhere else (make sure you barter them down as they will rip you off). Beach was nice and clean. Breakfast was good with plenty choice. The food in the Old Siam restaurant which is attached to hotel is absolutely amazing. Phuket was ok, i don't think I would return to Phuket but if I did I would stay here. Solid 4/5

the stay was absolutely appalling. Staff were not helpful at all extremely rude I would say. We were so glad to be out of there by the end. No one in the hotel spoke english having to get something with a nightmare. We arrived at 10pm and are rooms weren't ready we had to wait in the heat for an additional 30 minutes. We wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone.

Really disappointed with the entire experience I stayed in the same rating hotel in Bangkok and everything was outstanding as stated on hotels.com This couldn't have been further from it !! I would never recommend anyone to stay there
