A very nice play to stay in downtowen Halifax
We always love to stay at the Prince George when staying in downtown Halifax. It is centrally located, has indoor parking and a great range of rooms and suites to suit all needs. It also has great facilities for fitness and meetings as well as an excellent restaurant. We love the Crown floor with complimentary lounge, including free breakfasts. This time we had an executive suite that was very spacious and well equipped. I grew up with a grandfather who ran a hotel so I am very picky about where I stay and always provide extra tips to any hotel I stay at on how to better serve their guests. I also provide positive feedback when a hotel does things well. So here are my tips to improve what was already an excellent experience: 1) the bar area and fridge were great but please clean out the coffe maker - there should not be black mold in the water reservoir (yuck!) 2) the bathroom was amazing, especially the make-up area with wicker seat and great make-up mirror but you should also provide a full-length mirror somewhere in the room as guests often are dressing to go out and like to see what they look like 3) my on-line reservation stated that I was entitled to use the Crown Lounge even though I was not in a room on the Crown Floor. When I asked about this at the desk, I was told that I did not have access but the desk clerk immediately changed my room key to give me access - THAT’S WHAT I CALL SERVICE!!!! I would definitely stay at the Prince George again. Cheers!!!!

Poor 2.0
It was one of the most overrated hotels. Service was horrendous to say the least. From beginning when I’ve checked in the bellboy saw that I was a petite girl carrying two human size luggage’s and a carry on, he didn’t even offer to press the button for the elevator for me. Just stared and walked away. I’ve put in a simple request to have my bed sheets changed everyday and they’ve confirmed it will be done. But that’s not the case. I come back from a long day of work to find that they weren’t changed and I only know this because I’ve marked the pillowcases and sheets. They’ve apologized and promised it won’t happen again. But I come back the next day to find the same thing happening! Theres a reason why I chose a reputable hotel. I trusted that they uphold a certain set of standards so that I wouldn’t have to stress or worry about my room at the end of a long work day. That’s not the worst part. I also saw that drawers were opened and my luggage lock combo tampered with. I then asked the manager under what circumstance would the cleaner open them. He told me they clean the drawers but why would a cleaner dust inside the drawers when she can’t even do a Simple task that was requested which was to change the bed sheets? I then asked him about my luggage combo. I never claimed anything was stolen because everything was locked up but they should’ve taken what happened seriously. All he said was I can’t really prove it. But I have nothing to gain from this. Overall worst hotel

Prince George Hotel
My wife and I chose the Prince George as we deemed this hotel to be at a higher level in relation to comfort , professionalism, and offering a relaxing atmosphere for couples. First night was great but the second night took us to a "Comfort Inn or Quality Inn level where children sports teams stay at with an expectation of noise throughout the hallways - I.E. - children playing floor hockey in the hallways and a steady stream of wet patrons returning from the pool. In calling down to the front desk at 10.15pm we had been assured that the noise issue was being addressed. At 10.40 pm we called again and had been told they received other complaints and were looking into it. Unfortunately the noise would only quiet down upon a visit from the front desk but then continued on - this time with a group of females running room to room screaming and banging on doors. I have stayed in hotels many times with groups of children in hand but understanding the expected atmosphere I always chose a hotel more suited to such group stays. Paying a higher rate for a premium class of hotel comes with an expectation and again nothing against the Comfort Inns but they do prevail in an atmosphere more suited for groups of children or adults who want to explore their energies throughout the hotel . I certainly could elaborate in more detail on our stay but will just move on and reconsider my future options when booking accommodations.

Miscommunication: Stay Less than "Princely"
My wife and I stayed at the Prince George mid August 2017. Our stay was mixed. On our check in we were advised we were being upgraded to a suite (we had not requested an upgrade). The suite was wonderful--two rooms, a huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub, etc. After sightseeing most of the day, we returned to the hotel and discovered we could not re-enter our room with either "key". We went to the front desk and were then informed that the upgrade had just been for one night but we had not been informed of that at our check in. We were rather shocked but were told "there was nothing that could be done about it." We were not even offered to have the room to which the hotel had moved our things (without our knowledge) free of charge for the inconvenience; I had to suggest it. A week after we returned home and our credit card statement still showed charges for three nights lodging, I had to call the hotel. The hotel thereafter did give us a credit for one night's lodging. Leaving that aside, the hotel is fairly centrally located to the shops and restaurants in the downtown area, although it is a fairly steep climb from the waterfront itself. The hotel is very close to the Citadel and the Public Gardens. The "standard" room was by comparison a bit disappointing but it was clean and quiet.

When planning a trip to Halifax, my sister and I randomly chose this hotel after reading reviews. We were not disappointed! First, high marks go to the staff for the excellent service: Sarah, Emma, Adam, Hannah, Chantal (forgive the spelling), and many others. They answered questions and directed us. When my husband's luggage arrived late, Sarah made sure he had toiletries, just in case he had to spend the night without his own. One night we moaned that we were looking for cookies to accompany our after dinner drinks, and, voila, they magically appeared, warm and delicious. Another amazing experience occurred on our last day. My sister and I were looking for handmade, artsy, Canadian made goods. Chantal in Gio's directed us, and we had a wonderful shopping experience. When we returned to the hotel, she came running out to catch us in the lobby, and she handed us each a gorgeous, artisan glass ornament just because she knew we were searching for these type of objects. I can't say enough good things ab out this hotel. The lobby was well-suited for private conversations, the outdoor patios were lovely, the rooms well-appointed. This was a first-class hotel experience for us.
