Reviewed this trip after day 1 but had the chance to review again at end of day 5. A number of the staff are quiet blunt in their manner the way they talk to you within the lobby area, politeness costs nothing! Our floor had been renovated (30th) other floors looked very tired in the decor

Exceptional 10.0
Short trip in lovely hotel
A superb 48 hours. Kristal on check in was so friendly ( after a very long flight for me) and gave me a great room with superb city views. Facility and luggage fees were so well advertised I see no reason why people complained. Hotel is so conveniently situated and staff so lovely I would recommend it to anyone. Coffee maker in room would be a plus!

Fantastic views, great location, average service.
Fantastic location, great views but needs work. Room very small (although they are advertised as this) and so they are hard to move around with two people. View was fantastic and bed comfortable but bathroom was dirty and needed work as there were half finished jobs all over. Everything worked fine in bathroom. Safe did not work but wasn't required. Staff on the whole were friendly, particularly the manager Joseph however the concierge could do with some training as when we were asking about transfers to JFK only one person could help (the others were clearly paid to just stand behind the desk) and he (middle aged rotund man) just pointed us towards the hotel pick up self service computer and carried on watching his football match on his phone! Overall great location, fantastic views and convenient hotel bars/ restaurants just lacks some of the more basic hotel elemnets

Reasonable stay
Location is everything, our room was very small but clean, some staff indifferent others helpful

Good hotel in convenient location.
Initial room was small, dark, noisey and a bit tired. Asked if we could be moved. The hotel obliged and we got a much better room with a stunner of a view. It made the trip.

Good, Bad and the.....
The main plus point is the location, just walking distance from Times Square, Chrysler, Empire State, 5th Avenue and Broadway. Fairly dated interiors, stone faced and impersonal service. The Tick Tock diner is overpriced for the quality of food served and waiting service is average.

New Yorker New Yorker!
Hotel location is incredible! The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel reception and facilities generally are great. The hotel floors are starting to look aged or dated and although the rooms are comfortable they are quite small. But New York is a place were you do not spend time in your room other than to sleep and shower as you should be out seeing the sights and soaking up the NYC experience so not a drama. The Tik Tok restaurant attached the hotel is great value, good food and great service especially compared to other establishments in the area. So we ll worth a visit! Would I stay at the New Yorker again? Yes absolutely it’s a prime location across the road from madison square garden (see pics) and ideally placed for Penn Station, access to subway system, the Empire State Building and a short walk to Times Square, port authority bus station and major shops and restaurants.

Fair 4.0
False advertising
The room I got 2251 was very dated, the tiles were painted, the taps didn’t turn the water off completely. And we were woken up by the buildings manager at 07:48 on Sunday morning as he was looking for the source of some noises reported below, he did this to another guest room, thereby disturbing 3 rooms with the noise rather than moving the reporters. The photos are very misleading, had they been reflective of the room I stayed in, I would not have booked.

Far from impressed
the place is very tiered, the window was so dirty I could no see out of it, every 3 or 4 hours there was an extrely loud noise which woke me us (sounded like banging pipes)! The nasty sting in the tail was a $270 service charge on check

Amenitie Charges
What is it with American hotels and the amenities charges they charge you, they are listed as the use of the fitness center, conference center( I'm on holiday) and printer and fax machine for the conference center and they charge you $37 per day per room, scandalous if you ask me.
