The Balmoral Hotel
Very Good8.0
family special occassion.
Service noticeably very very good. Had 2 luxury rooms booked for special family occasion. Rooms were spacious and very good mostly. Décor looked a little tired, but a minor problem. Generally happy with things. Ate at no1 restaurant. Expensive but very very good. Minor hiccup was that my main course could have been warmer. Was offered a fresh replacement ,but not bad enough to send the dish back I felt.

Total indulgence
Absolutely amazing weekend. All of the staff are the most professional I have witnessed anywhere. The suite was spotless and modern and the harp player played Happy Birthday on my wife’s birthday! The pool and spa helped overcome the weekend’s excesses!

Very enjoyable. Upgraded to a suite. Attended a large Edinburgh Uni function. Reception, Dinner etc all excellent. Service excellent all round. Reception staff and Porters so helpful. Just one small criticism otherwise very good stay. The hotel needs some updating but I am sure the management will have that in hand.

Great hotel for none thirsty guests!
The hotel itself was lovely and overall enjoyed the stay. We love Edinburgh and visit a couple of times per year. The big issue we had at the balmoral, which would see us return to the Scotsman on future visits was the hotel bar. It’s very popular and table service only. So at busy periods if no tables are available you queue until one comes free. The bar is heavily used by the public and no priority is given to residents. Several times during our 2 night stay we were unable to use the bar which in my mind is unacceptable at a 5 star hotel. We raised this 3 times as a complaint and Nobody did anything to address the issue
