Dead rat hotel
Part1 ac is working in the room. It is hot. Only 2 ceiling fans working. Refrigerator smelled stink. 2 big tv but only one is working with one channel. We can't change the channel. We smelled something bad when we first we moved in. Smelled like someone s feet near the bed head board. Then we found it was a dead baby rat. We called the front desk. She said the guy was on break so we had to wait for 30 mins before someone came to clear it. The bed was not movable. It was attached to the wall. The guy had to use the stick of the broom to dig it out. After that he left us the spray to spray by ourselves. He did not speak english. Is that our job to spray the disinfection spray? He touched the bed sheet when he was removing the dead rat. We called to change the bed sheet. The front desk told us to change it by ourselves because no house keeping at that time. That was another 30 mins wait time. Is this the service we paid for the hotel room? The water pressure was low during the day time. Can't take bath. Very low. Water barely coming out of the faucet. The floor was dusty. Didn't look like they mopped it. My husband had to change the bedsheet. I don't think i can sleep in bed. That was gross. Also no hot water to shave. It takes 30 mins to run the the water before hot water comes on. The next day when we checked out my husband asked for the check out receipt n told the front desk again about the problem. She delayed giving the receipt. Since she denial everything i asked her

Nice hotel right across the street from the beach
The hotel lobby was clean and the room was clean as well. There were 3 issues I had with the Colony Hotel 1. The mattress on the bed seemed as if it was to big for the boxspring when you sat or layed on eithier side of the bed you would almost slide off the bed, and sleeping in the middle of the bed still didn't help overall the hotel needs to get mattresses that actually fit the boxspring. 2. The bathroom is small and there was a threshold to the entrance of the bathroom that was extremely high so be careful or else you will trip over it or hit your foot on it. Also there isn't anywhere to put your toiletries in the bathroom because there isn't a tub only a walk in shower with no shampoo or body wash holders on the wall which was very odd. 3. There were guests slamming doors when we were in the room to take a quick shower and in the middle of the night which didn't make sense because the doors were not hard to close. The hotel is right on Ocean Dr and Wet Willies is about 2 doors down which was great, so if you get a little tipsy your not far from your hotel. The main issue on Ocean Dr is people that work for the different hotels hounding you to come sit and eat at their restaurant which became very annoying. We solved this problem by walking on the other side of the street to avoid them. My bestfriend and I had a great time in Miami and will most likely stay at the Colony hotel again because it's right in the middle of the action despite the 3 issues I listed above.

New Management Takes Advantage of Old TIme Patrons
We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past. The Restaurant/Bar staff was always very nice in the past and took care of us and the bar tab was reasonable. This time they scr****d us. We ordered a couple draft beers which the menu said $10 each, then a few more and some rum and cokes. Ok a lot of rum and cokes. When we asked for the bill from dinner they would not bring it, we kept asking and they kept bringing drinks. Finially we were done for the night and they brought the $935 bill. The ten dollar bears became $25 each and the run and cokes were $25 each. When we confronted them, they showed the menu and it had the $10 beers and rum and cokes but they pointed to the big drinks that are $25 each. We never ordered the big drinks, and got the sized we had always been brought in the past when we got $150 bar tabs (not $935 bar tabs) Do not drink here, Do not eat here (food was not that great), as they are very deceitful. They ultimately discounted the tab by $300 which brought it down to $635. Had they said they were bringing us $25 dollar per drink drinks, when we pointed to the $10 ones, we would have gone some where else or not had drinks at all. Also shower was all stopped up and would overflow onto the floor after only a few minutes. We will never go back to what used to be the hidden Jewel of South Beach.

Great for $ & location, but hotel is a mess
The place is in a great location and the concierge was great, for the $ this was a great hotel. If you are looking for a topnotch hotel this is not it. The hotel is definitely not more than a 3 Star at best and you are paying for the location. The start of the stay was interesting, one of the beds were broken and had to be repaired apparently the platforms had not been finished. We never got new towels, but they kept taking the old ones to the point that on the last night we had no towels and were unable to get any apparently they don't keep towels on site. We had to use the beach towels on the last night and morning. The iron didn't work, the door to the room was broken need to be opened with a shoulder check, no hand soap, had to have our room keys reset 2 times, the person who stayed before us "hotboxed" the closet so our room smelled like marijuana the entire time, and the TV didn't work the last 2 days. They offer free WIFI but it’s slower than dial up. The fire alarm went off at 3 am on the first night and then again at 4am on the 2nd night. Be prepared to be harassed as you leave and enter the hotel as the restaurant staff bombard you trying to get you to eat at the hotel restaurant. If you get a room for around $120 it’s worth it for the location or if you are down just to party.

When I checked in there was an African American female working at 11 pm and she was very pleasant very kind and did explain everything about the hotel. Upon checking in I asked for a late checkout for an hour she said it waa fine they had no real reservations coming in. At 11am, I received a phone call from a gentleman who was not so friendly he told me that I had to leave at once even though the night before I asked for a late check-out prior and it was noted. He was very disrespectful but when I went downstairs to approach him he act as if there there was another man working behind the desk and he never spoke to me... I find that to be very unpleasant but once I confronted him he allowed us to stay the one extra hour that I was already approved for. There valet isn't 24 hours you have to check out at 11 a.m. even though I arrived at 11 p.m. and pay $35.00 then paid an additinal $20.00 for 3 hours what a rip off!!!! Besides that the bathroom is so small you can barely fit and I'm 5'3" at 140lbs.. the room was clean for the short time I was there. The maintenance staff was hospitable and very nice.
