Staff needs serious training
Everything was very good except for our night of arrival We arrived from US at night and from the time we checked in all information was completely wrong. We were told by staff that restaurants were open time of closing of 2 restaurants both of them Ended up closed before we we were told .Instaed of advising us we could order room service we ended up having to go all over theNeighborhood looking for food .After 11 pm ,all of the restaurants shut down. So we ended up at a McDonald’s due to the misinformation of the staff. Then we called from and asked if their bar was still open hoping to have a glass of wine with our Mcdonalds and they said no both bars are closed So when we arrived with Mcdonalds food,we walked into to their bar and were informed us that they were open until 1:15 am and welcomed us for ourglass wine . All of this on our first night was totally unnecessary if they just had their staff trained.Once we explained all of this to the lovely manager she was excellent and gave us a free breakfast. Otherwise rooms are totally renovated and clean just don't stay in the “wing rooms “ if you can avoid them.

Poor 2.0
Not worth the money.
There is a lot that is right with this place. The lobby is gorgeous The location is STELLAR. However, the bad certainly out weighs this. Each time we ordered room service there was a problem. They sent the wrong food, or repeated the wrong room number back to us, or forgot things we ordered. Horrible. When my mom brought this up upon checkout there was a language barrier and she couldn't tell if they understood but she said they said something about an up grade next time. My mom was sick and some of the cold medication she took had an adverse reaction to her blood pressure meds, she fainted just outside the hotel and I asked for an ambulance. Not only did none of the staff come to help bring her into the lobby, when I made the request the concierge actually ROLLED his eyes. Thankfully she was fine, but there was no follow up from any of the staff until we checked out. Lastly, as is apt to happen, I forgot a bracelet in the room. THE MINUTE I realized this had happened and I called the hotel to ask if they had found it. They said they hadn't found it and didn't ask for any contact info in case it was found. When I went to collect my luggage, they were again not helpful at all, dismissive, and generally rude. When I sent my complaints to management, I got a defensive response, with no further follow ups other than to say "we told your mom we would give you an upgrade". It seriously felt like "What do you want from us". Unacceptable. I will not return.

Great location!
Overall we were very happy with our stay. There were 3 people in our group so an extra bed was put in the room. The room was quite small so with the extra bed, there was not much room to move around. I would recommend upgrading to a larger room for 3 or more, if available. We ordered room service the first night and everything was great. The 2nd night, we tried to order room service and was hung up on twice and when I tried to call back the 3rd time, no one answered. I tried calling the front desk and no one answered there either. I tried several times and no one picked up with the room service or the front desk lines. It’s possible there was an issue with the phone lines as it was a little static. It was not a deal breaker for us as the hotel overall and the location were excellent. Close to all the main tourist sites. One word of caution, getting in the tub can be quite challenging. The tub has a tile wall that is very high to get over. Someone who is older may have trouble getting in and out. I would suggest to order the rubber mat for the tub as we did the 2nd day, as the first day I slipped getting out of the tub and grabbed the hot towel rack for support...another mistake to have so close to the tub without a rail for support to climb out of the tub.

Heart of London, But this hotel broke my heart!
The overall hotel was clean and pleasant looking. It is the perfect place to be if you want to be in the middle of the action. The hotel service was severely lacking (especially for the price). When we entered our room we found that housekeeping had not cleaned it (we walked into a torn up room). We reported to the service desk and was told it would be ready in 45 minutes and our bags would be in the room. We returned 90 minutes later and found the room clean but no bags. We called service and was told it was on its way. 40 min later I went downstairs to find my bags sitting at the desk still "on its way"?? Next, the spring in the desk chair was so weak as soon as I sat it flung my backwards and I was only saved by my wife and daughter catching me before I flipped, I did however jam my thumb in the process. Next the shower head (attached to the ceiling) detached and cracked me in the arm. The beds were hard like sleeping on the floor. We were told by the front desk that with the holiday breakfast would be served from 6a-11a Sat-Mon. On Mon we arrived for breakfast just after 10:30a to be told breakfast ends at 10:30a. In spite of the memo at check in and the menu clearly saying breakfast until 11am as well. We were still served but the service was poor and rude. The service desk had lots of apologizes and we were comped minor things like a bottle of wine, some tarts and offered to be moved to a similar room. Honestly way too little for what we went through. WOULD NOT RETURN

A Great Find
I chose this hotel only for to its location next to Victoria station as I was taking the Gatwick Express to the airport the following morning but the hotel and location was much better that I had expected. I arrived early to drop my luggage off before spending the day in London, I had a very friendly welcome from both girls on reception and they checked me in immediately as my room was ready, this is very rare in any major city. The hotel is very impressive showing its heritage in every room and corridor and has been re designed to supersize this without comprising on comfort. My room although small was comfortable and very cosy and the bathroom small again but very well designed and clean. After a day in cold London I returned and decided to have a nice grass of red in the Grosvenor Arms, the hotels pub, which was very nice with great service from the staff. I had a very comfortable night in my room, which had lots of tea and coffee, instead of the one or two that you usually get in hotels and followed by a great breakfast in the restaurant. My only issue was that morning I couldn't get the water in the shower to get warm and although I ran it for quite a while never got warm, forcing me to have a very quick rinse, not ideal on a cold winter morning. I have stayed in many hotels in London before but I think from now that this will be my " go to " hotel when looking for one in the capital.
