If the price is low it’s worth a stay!
Over the years I’ve been particular about where I’m willing to stay lol. In the pictures this place looked super luxurious and for the price of about $450 total for a Thursday-Saturday stay we weren’t expecting anything less. Parking fee, resort fee, the gratuity percentage from room service is automatic all reasonable to us but the room just has to look nicer for all of those additional fees. The outside is beautiful and the hotel is in a great location. We just didn’t find the bed very comfortable and felt like it had a super old design/looking great granny blanket on top. Nothing against great granny’s it’s just you don’t want to think about that while on a couples trip lol. I don’t think the hotel is that bad I think for the price it’s ridiculous. Again, I don’t mind paying the price but not for that. Should have just stayed somewhere cheaper and looked a lot better on the inside I just loved the unique outside of this hotel. We were able to rent bikes from them for an hour but only used them for 10mins the 2 we got at least were super low quality. Like found it in the goodwills through away pile they were super uncomfortable. Near the water though, closer to the airport, there are many bikes and scooters you rent using just your phone and those were both a lot nicer to look at and more comfortable for our bodies lol. The room had a microwave and a fridge, a large tv and friendly staff. I would stay here again it’s not that we hated it but for a much lower price.

Exceptional 10.0
Great Location, a little Tropical Getaway
There are so many things to like about this resort. It was clean, staff was friendly, the pool area was awesome, the views were great, I would definitely come back for a visit. We originally requested a "tropical view" room. But for a small upgrade fee, we got to stay in a room with full view of the stage where they have concerts. This was definitely worth it. The 2 bands that played weren't huge names, but the music was good. Humphreys books very popular music artists, so we were grateful for this surprise. Overall the amenities were great. We always felt safe, and it is in a great location to the attractions in San Diego. The only downsides- the daily parking fee, the daily resort fee, and the bed. I negotiated a lower parking fee, but with the room upgrade, it came out to the same price. The resort fee is mainly for wifi, but the signal is sketchy the further away from the lobby and pool area. My biggest complaint was the uncomfortable beds. Maybe I had a bad one, but after the 3rd night, my lower back was really sore. By the 4th and 5th night, I could hardly get out of bed. I actually said something during checkout, in a respectful, non-complaining way. They gave me a discount off the final bill and made a note to check the mattress after we left. Other than that, no deal breakers. I would definitely come back to visit.

Friendly staff cinches hotel rating
The best part of this review would be the friendly and efficient staff. I found from the moment of check in to check out they were right on top of everything and it was greatly appreciated. The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to airport but no airport noise and felt very private. The restaurant with the hotel has friendly staff and very good breakfast (only did breakfast on the two days). The view from the restaurant was lovely looking over the marina. The room we had was spacious. Lots of closet and drawer space, very nice patio and quiet location. There was minimal traffic being close to the end of Shelter bay road. The rooms are a bit dated, mainly bathrooms could use a bit of an update but it really did not detract from our stay. The fitness room is very minimal. One tread mill and one elliptical machine, lucky we got there first several people came after us and left with nothing available, also the room is very small and no glasses for water, but the towels were well stocked. Again this is not a reason for me not to recommend the hotel. Given the lovely location over looking the marina they could carve out a small area from the concert pavilion to put in an outdoor mat/stretch/yoga that could be flexible to take down when concert is in session. There are steps even though we were on first floor if this is important to you and other restaurants are a couple of blocks away. Excellent hotel, that is a great alternative to chain much more expensive hotels.

Very good 8.0
Nice location on Shelter Island. Pretty grounds with tropical landscaping. Our room had a little patio overlooking a nice landscaped area, however some overlooked the parking lot, I believe. Room was fine - a little dated, but clean. Great for seeing a concert there, which was the reason for our stay. Concert venue location was great - small in size, with views over the docked boats. However, it was VERY cramped. Small, attached plastic chairs with barely enough room to pass through the aisle if people are sitting. We had a great time, but just something to know before you go.

Convenient hotel/great marina view
Family of 4 staying there for Thanksgiving week. The weather was perfect! We arrived early, but room was not ready, so we waited until 3 to get in. Received an upgrade from garden view to Marina suite, that was awesome! Room is quite spacious, although a little updating could be used (rug looked worn, pull out sofa creaky, screen door needed WD3) We had daily cleaning and left tips for our housekeeper, she did a great job. Although somehow I noticed there was hair on the ceiling in bathroom...(must use mop to clean ceiling, yuck!) The AC unit is very loud btw.... We visited the front desk one evening to see if they had a deck of cards or any type of family games, they did not, to the Staff: might be a good idea to keep a few things around for guest rental...just an idea!Poolside service was non existent due to out of season.. Pool was heated, but still to chilly for me, hot tub always crowded :). The ping pong table could use replacement, and when we wanted to play botchie, there was a large family reunion using the space for about 2 hours for pictures. Brunch at hotel was nice, good service, fair prices. parking expensive :(to be expected) Shelter Island is so convenient and quiet, great marina to observe and little restaurants/coffee shops all within walking distance. I think Humphreys is a great value and would stay again. Although there were a couple negatives, none of the were deal breakers. Everyone there was nice/thoughtful and guests were as well!
