Great location
Great location opposite the obelisk on avenida 9th Julio (widest avenue in the world ) easy walking distance down Corrientes Diagonal ave 8th maio (Don't miss cafe tortoni ..oldest cafe..tango shows as well as superb coffee and last century elegance) teatro colon 2 blocks away also tango show a block away. Lovely patisserie 'alma ' opposite hotel. Walking tours leave from 2 locations not too far away. Hotel has restaurant and bar which was busy as opposed to many hotel bars. Nice breakfast and fun watching the manic traffic as you munch into delicious home made medialunos. Really friendly staff. Lovely stay but not long enough. Will definitely return. Some reports say it's tired but I thought it had the charm of the 1940s as opposed to the anonymous 'anywhere in the world's feel you get with chain hotels .

an OK hotel but we wouldn't go back
this was our second stay - we were quite happy after the first one but thought this was more like a three star. the a/c wasn't very efficient either. on this occasion the staff were exceptionally helpful as before and our stored cases were taken to our room. check in a bit of a problem as we had cancelled a two night stay and substituted a single night due to flight change - all eventually sorted out. got to nice room with obelisk view but couldn't make a/c work. maid also tried without success and phoned reception who told us "electricity off - using temporary generators - hope to be back on by 7pm" so we went shopping and got back at 6.30 electricity still off so I spoke to street engineers who told us "it should be back by 10pm but that's not certain - the whole block is off" with temperatures at 38 centigrade we took the decision to book a hotel opposite as an insurance in the event it came back on around 11pm this is a nice old fashioned hotel but it needs updating (particularly the bathroom and a/c which wasn't great) we normally stay in a 4* nearby whose a/c is also unreliable but wouldn't go back to the Bristol it is ok

A functional downtown hotel
We wanted a hotel for overnight stays as we went off to Colonia and Iguazu. The Bristol was perfect.

Nice Location - in serious need of an upgrade.
The hotel is in a great location in downtown Buenos Aires. We had a great view of the Obelisk. The room was cramped and in real need of a makeover. There was only one place to plug in our phones and that was behind the small refrigerator. Our room had two small twin beds. We had to leave early for the airport so cannot comment on the breakfast.
