At best a 3 star- disappointing stay
The hotel has clearly put a lot of investment into its communal areas; unfortunately this level has not been matched in the rooms The poolside area is delightful with excellent food and service. We stayed in a junior suite, and although large, that is where the luxury ends. Our A/C was not working and needed to be repaired. The water did not get above warm for the entire stay, despite repeatedly reporting. The water on the bath tub contained what looks like sand. Paper and plastic cups in the room is a no-no; bad for the environment and also low end. No bathrobes, no fresh water daily, nothing to distinguish a suite from a standard room. Scuffs on the doors, bathroom door did not close properly, door to television cabinet loose and the ice box in the fridge requires defrosting. Finally, this is a good 30 minutes walk into the centre of town... all in all... a very disappointing stay

    Sprawling and tired resort.
Sprawling resort which is past its best - felt like we needed to hire an SUV to get to our room from the lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice pools and hot tubs but we were surprised with a $35 per day 'resort fee' for which we had been given no advance notice by or on check-in. Worst thing was a disgusting smell like rotting cabbage in the public areas (thankfully not in our room) with some attempt to disguise by adding the smell of bleach! Room was spacious and adequately equipped (once we'd asked for a shower curtain), though the air conditioning unit sounded like it was driven by an ancient tractor engine. Very handy for the Buzz (free bus around town Thursday to Sunday) with a stop just outside the entrance. Won't be staying again.

    Very good 8.0
Stayed for 1 night. Staff were very friendly. Room was a little outdated but clean. Corridors smelt really bad, can't describe the smell but it wasn't nice. There was always some form of mess on the floor or dirty cutlery outside rooms. The pool was ok but the sun loungers were a little dirty and the pool had quite a few insects floating about with a used plaster on the side. The restaurant was perfect but the pool bar was closed but probably due to out of season. Even though it's summer it was very quiet and most restaurants closed.

I booked this hotel for my 55 the birthday , Labor Day weekend . Only the 1st thru 3rd. Upon arriving I asked to be upgraded to a pool side rooms they said they could accomdate that . We went too eat lunch on the property . Our room was ready at 4:30 . It was not a poolside room . And it was dirty . The carpets were gross . There was a dead bug . They said they couldn’t move us . Then my daughter looked under the bed and found an open condom wrapper and some girls hair clips ! She then called back and asked to speak with the manager ‘ We were changed too a cleaner room . I understand it was a busy weekend ! I was some what disappointed ! We made the best of our stay . Had a decent time at the pool . But I would not stay here again it recommend This hotel too anyone .

    Dilapidated Dump!!!
I don't know why Marriott took over this property to sully its good reputation. Thus place is a dump. The bed was broken on one side, which is one of the issues I had last year while staying at this property for the dance events. The rooms and bathrooms are dirty. Nobody cleans up the trash on the grounds or in the hallways, the floors don't get vacuumed, either that or vacuums aren't working. The AC barely works and in fact, it went out in the main ballroom. There are pipes in the wall that knock really loud every 15 minutes that jolt you out of your sleep. Just when you start to fall asleep ... BANG! Lather, rinse, repeat. I hope the dance events won't be held here anymore. Please let the dance events be held at the Renaissance Marriott again!
