Nice grounds and view. Service very poor. Told different things by different people. Swimming facilities largely unavailable, despite my checking in advance and being assured they would. Leisure centre manager particularly rude and unhelpful. I am sure there are better hotels in Bath at more reasonable prices
Beautiful construction, decor and grounds. Great to have car parking but close enclose to walk into city centre. Far enough away from the city to be peaceful and quiet.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Macdonald Bath Spa hotel. The ground were beautifully maintained, full of amazing trees and shrubs, with ornate statues and a small pond. The hotel decor is old-fashioned but luxurious. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff were polite, helpful and chatty. Food was tasty and well prepared. There were a few obvious downsides though. Parking costs £15, which seems excessive, when there were plenty of free spaces in the car park. The wi-fi connection in our room was very poor, with the connection constantly dropping out, and every time you logged in again you were prompted for login details. The bath was a little dirty and rusty around the inside/handles. Also, the bar was closed (with no reason given by the bar staff), which meant that there was nowhere atmospheric to have a drink, apart from the main dining room. Overall, we really liked the hotel, but there are some obvious areas for improvement.
Staff were friendly on arrival. Room was disappointing, the bath and shower didn’t work correctly and the window was broken and therefore would not shut. Very noisy due to air con machines just under window. Out door hot spa was lovely, but areas were dirty with grit on the floor, also people were in the pool taking photos!
Hotel very tired, room grubby, stains on carpets, skirting boards filthy. Cracked tiles all around the outside swimming pool with no bar service/any service at all around the pool area which is certainly not expected of a 5 star hotel.
The hotel that I stayed in is very different to the pictures. First room smelt of damp and complained. The next room bathrooms smelt. The rooms are very low quality, very tired and worn fabrics and furnishings, nothing like the pictures. The bathrooms are very worn and grubby looking. Breakfast was poorly cooked, lack of choice very basic. It was like staying in a 2 star hotel. The staff were nice enough
The room was ok. The restaurant Vellore and staff were excellent. There were two issues that make us feel the hotel needs improvement. 1. The fire alarm kept sounding on the Saturday which interrupted my wifes spa treatment - no apology from MacDonald Hotel staff or explanation. A little courtesy you'd expect as a minimum. Also unsettling for my 11 year old son as he thought was a real emergency. 2. We needed some information on Saturday afternoon circa 5pm we constantly rang concierge & reception from room for over 10 minutes no response. Id suggest understaffed. Curious to see if the Management agree.
Had a lovely stay at the MacDonald Spa hotel, staff are very friendly and they are all following the Covid guild lines, and a lovely breakfast with plenty of choice, hotel is set in beautiful grounds which is lovely to walk around
Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. Downside expensive drinks which take 20 minutes to turn up, bar supervisor who served us was miserable and the breakfast was well over priced for the amount of food you get, i wouldn't pay more than 4 quid for that breakfast down a cafe
The weekend was about having some us time whilst we had no kids the mattresses in the room were really uncomfortable too soft also u couldn’t open the window and the air conditioning only went to 16 so we were in an uncomfortable hot temperature the whole time.going down to the restaurant for dinner we had an allotted time slot and we were told to wait 15 minutes after that time slot then it took ages to be served also the food is very over priced not worth the money especially for the steaks we both had breakfast again was disappointing it was so tasteless overall very disappointed in this spa hotel you would expect more we have been to a few and this is by far the worst
