Location was good. Whilst we appreciate due to Covid-19 there was a lack of alcoholic choice in the bar and restaurant. There was no telephone in the room to be able to contact reception yet were told to dial 0 for them and also received an email to do the same for additional toiletries therefore having to contact them physically. Could not fault the waiting staff, but they were clearly being stretched.

Not worth visiting until the hotel is upgraded

We arrived to find our room was like a sauna (ironic given the sauna was shut) and the air conditioning broken. With no phone to ring reception we went and asked to be transferred rooms, only to be told the air conditioning was not allowed due to restrictions. This would be fair enough except other guests told us theirs was working fine, arousing suspicions this was just a fib. The receptionist said a fan was be brought to our room but after 4 separate trips to reception, no fan arrived leaving us to cook in our room over the 2 night stay. Our rooms were also not cleaned during our stay, again this was put down to restrictions but no clean towels were provided. The pool and gym seemed nice but access was extremely limited. We didn’t dare try the restaurant but it was almost empty on both nights. The location is excellent and Stratford is an amazing place. All in all this hotel is not worth visiting whilst COVID restrictions are in place, the hotel requires a make over as its looking out dated (as are the rooms) and they need to re-visit their management policy for the ‘new normal’. We never felt relaxed and judging by the number of complaints of other guests every time we walked past reception we weren’t the only ones.

Welcoming staff and a clean hotel. Parking cost is now £7. Breakfast arrives in a box. Good taste though. If nice weather collect breakfast from restaurant and eat outside on patio tables. A real sun trap and much better than eating in your room. Shame the pool was still closed on our visit due to government guidelines. As always a lovely location and central to the town. We will be back!

    Pleasant trip

We were allocated a room in them manor house, I assume the original part of the building, the room was made up of a small lounge area two bedrooms off this, a large double and a single. The lounge area and the smaller bedroom were cold with most of the heat from the radiator being blocked by very substantial curtain, which were needed to block the draught from the windows. We had an issue with the toilet not flushing, the sink not draining as quick as you would expect and a brown dust being ejected from the hot tap when it was first turned on. We reported the issues to reception who asked a manager to inspect the room, which he did and the parking fee was waived, 10/10 for service. We went to use the pool whilst the hotel sorted the problem with the plumbing, which, upon our return, appeared to have been resolved, only for the problem to present itself again later in the evening. As we were only there for one night there seemed little point in raising it again. Breakfast was average, with most hot food items being warm (baked beans) at best and cold (scrambled eggs) at worst. One other issue that we had was the choice of music playing in the changing rooms in the spa on the Friday evening, just before children had too leave. I'm not sure a song with expletives that were not disguised in any way is appropriate. All in all we had a pleasant trip and the hotel looks amazing we may have just been unlucky with the plumbing issue but breakfast could be improved.
