    The views for the standard rooms are not very good and the aircon wasn't that effective in our room. But very central and easy to get to anywhere in central amsterdam as theres a tram stop right outside the hotel.

    Great central hotel

    Me and my girlfriend stayed at Amsterdam Caransa for 3 nights. When we first arrived the staff seemed very friendly and helpful. Our room was on floor 3 and we was very pleased with the initial look and size of the room. Only little nag I can think of is that this room was by a cleaners cupboard so occasionally you can hear the doors shutting. Also as the hotel is very central you can hear outside noise but that did not really bother us as we expected this for a hotel so central. Overall great hotel and we would come back again.

    I usually like nH hotels and have stayed at the Caransa many times before and other nH hotels around the world . They are usually clean and good value . The Caransa is perfectly located on Rembrant Square . On my most recent trip however i was disappointed at the Caransa . Despite paying an upgrade for a premium view , the room i got (number 515) included a bath that smelled of urine and also had a broken shower head . I had to ask for my room to be cleaned after a 48 period when it wasn't . The hotel management should also note that in my opinion , two single beds pushed together do not make a double . After paying 4 star prices , i expect a double bed and a clean bathroom that works properly . Also , provide a roll or two of proper lavatory paper, not just a tissue dispenser . You can tell when a hotel is trying to scrimp to save a few euros here and there at the expense of guest comfort and this seems to be what nH management are doing here . Nh management at Caransa need to up their game significantly I'm afraid to fall in line with the usually high standards of the nH group . Next time i will return to the Schiller instead where I've never had such problems .
