Get what you pay for.
I stayed at this hotel because of the customer review rating. I'm somewhat baffled. The hotel isn't terrible and my stay was exceptionally cheap, so I'm not complaining. It's a very long way from The Strip but I was driving and there is a lot of of parking. The room was downmarket and the communal areas were not much better. It all felt grubby. The saving grace were the staff who were all cheerful and helpful. I had dinner at TGIF which wasn't pleasant. I also had breakfast at the buffet, which was pretty poor. They make you wait in line for a table, then when you get inside it is three quarters empty. I needed to do laundry and despite the size of the hotel complex I was sent next door to the RV park to use their launderette. I wouldn't stay there again. I'm not that poor. The worst aspect for me was the poker. It didn't happen. It is a slot machine kind of place. Walmart across the road was handy.

A non Vegas Vegas Hotel
Sam's Town is a very strange place. It feels like a Vegas hotel but because it is such a drive away (Around 30 minutes in traffic) that it ends up being like a resort you like would get in Mexico. You can spend all your time in the hotel without actually seeing Las Vegas. It has it's own cinema, McDonalds, light show, lots of free parking and even a RV park. The bed & pillows were the best that I experienced in the 2 weeks I was travelling America but no view to speak off at all. Customer service isn't the best as they expect you to find out everything about the place instead being helpful. Would I stay again ? If I wanted to see Vegas then no but if I wanted a 'get away from it' stay then yes.
