The St. Regis Princeville Resort
Expected better & disappointed
I stayed at this hotel ~20 years ago for our honeymoon when it was a Westin. I was excited to see St. Regis took it over, but frankly, not much has changed. While the Hotel has one of the best lobby views of any hotel I've stayed at, it's time for an update. Carpets ripped in hallways. Carpets in lobby look like they need to be changed. Walls in hallways are sloppily re-painted. Outside of building looks dirty and in need of cleaning. Rooms we clean, but dated. We had multiple issues at check-in 1) booked 2 queens beds with an Ocean Front view, got a room with a King bed and a view of pool 2) staff failed to tell us about activities including the weekly luau - which we missed. It took a lot of hassle to change the room and we still didn't get one with 2 queen beds. We asked for a call from the manager - but we didn't get one and are still waiting. We tried to book activities / dinners with the concierge. Never got a call back. Not a lot of activities at hotel. Drinks / music / service in lobby bar was great. Food at hotel at all restaurants was great as well. But too many issues for a St. Regis 5 star hotel. Sadly, would not go back.

Very Good8.0
Beautiful views and property, but not much else!
When it comes to beauty, you can't say anything negative about the St. Regis Princeville. Beautiful views of the Napali Coast, perfectly manicured property and aesthetically overwhelming interior (in the common areas). We were a little disappointed on how much it cost and exactly what we got. This is definitely a place for people who want to be doted on and fully veg-out for their stay. The beach isn't very swimmable, the food is overly priced, they get you with a resort fee AND valet parking each day. It's removed enough so that you have the beautiful views, but that also means it's several miles from the towns that have more affordable (and fun) bars/restaurants. We ended our honeymoon here and were thinking they might do something special given how much we spent to stay there! Sadly, there wasn't anything done to help us mark the occasion. Not that we would have expected it, but everywhere else we went before (including the Sheraton in Poipu) either offered free desserts, bottles of champagne, etc.

Overpriced but beautiful
Overpriced but beautiful. Had problems at check-in, the sink in our room did not work, the ATM would not release my card and security was called and I wasted 30 minutes, and so many guests were wearing underwear under their swim suits in the pool. Overall not really worth it.

Incredibly disappointing - stay elsewhere
This was a really disappointing stay for us. We stayed there for our honeymoon and were excited to come back, and show the kids. It hasn’t been updated in 20 years. The restaurants are not open for several days of the week, even when they are at capacity. We asked for a tour of the property and got nothing - no information about the kids club, pool hours, amenities, etc. The pool is ok but not nearly as nice as a St Regis should be, or other top Hawaii properties. When asked for a 1 hour extension to our checkout - we were told that we didn’t have high enough status on SPG and we didn’t book through the Amex concierge to warrant that. Seriously. We had two rooms for 5 days. And, all the activities and most nice restaurants on the island are down by the airport, which is an hour drive, each way. We will not be returning.

Paradise found
Amazing location, pool area, buffet breakfast, service. Stayed 6 nights. Great with kids too, baby pool is warm and clean. Great waves opposite the hotel, an easy paddle from the beach.
