Staff was very helpful and nice. Rooms were very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Only complaint is the the stairwell carpets were filthy and the laundry room dispenser was broken and there was nothing on it to tell you not to put money into it.

8/10 Very good

This was a great room for our stay in Des Moines. I was curious about the breakfast after reading a few reviews complaining about it, but it was just like all of the other continental breakfasts; waffles, eggs and sausage, juice and coffee, fruit, cereal, muffins and toast, yogurt, cereal etc. The room was clean and the staff was nice and it was a good price.

We were able to check in a bit early which was nice, room could’ve been swept better and the chairs were a little …questionable. Other than that, decent room to put your head down on a bed. We were only there to get ready for a concert and sleep.

Right off the highway. 13 minutes to Adventure Land. Breakfast was good. Many choices to choose from. Sausage and egg. Cereal and milk. Different types of breads including bagels. Fruit was apples, bananas and cuties. Waffle bar. See many choices. Bed was so soft and comfortable. Had all your soaps and lotion already in the room. There were soda machines and an area to purchase other items. Thank you had a great time. 5 stars out of 5

6/10 Good

We really appreciated the option of a room with 3 queen beds to fit all of our family. The room appeared to be recently updated with new wood floors and sink and stuff. Beds were comfy. Bathroom really small but it got the job done. Breakfast was subpar. Asked front desk for a spare pillow or two but they said they didn’t have any??? How is a hotel fresh out of any extra pillows???

Chose Sonesta Essential based on location - wanted easy access to a Chick-Fil-A and Sonesta was right off interstate and same road less than a mile away. Also had a Dollar Tree on same road for any little things I forgot. Reasonable price, clean and comfortable room, easy check in with friendly staff. No issues and would definitely stay there again.

6/10 Good

We arrived late and left early. Room was ok. Hallway floor was kind of dirty. Simple room and comfortable beds. Very rainy the next morning. Rain came in through windows in breakfast area. Crazy to see such poor maintenance. Breakfast was simple. Waffles, bagels, toast, some fruit, watery coffee, cereals. Staff person was the same for check in and out. Didn't see any other staff. Imagine he serviced the breakfast as well which may explain how messy the floor was and no resupplies of items. Price was good for what we got. A lot of hotels were booked. The state fair was opening that day so maybe there was a lot of people in town. We were just passing through.
