Should be on people's bucket list
There is no doubt that The Watergate Gate is full of history. From the moment of arrival, one can't help but think about everything that has been happening in this hotel. And yhe hotel itself does not disappoint. The design hints at the Watergate Scandal throughout the hotel which is great fun to explore. The room was spacious and well equipped. A special mention has to go the Nespresso machine which is a great feature to have. The bathroom is big and the shower is fantastic. The only thing better than the shower is the bathrobes. Never ever have I worn anything more comfortable. It goes without saying (I hope) that the room was spotless and I found it just as spotless at the end of every day when I returned. A massive thanks to Housekeeping who did a marvellous job. I almost wish I hadn't been in D.C. for work in order to enjoy the hotel even more. Just because I know it's important to me (and most likely others): the bed is quite soft which just isn't for me. But that's personal preference; nothing to fault the hotel over. Finally, don't miss out on a drink in the rooftop bar. The views are incredible. I cannot wait to stay there again!

A Lovely Hotel (Tea Situation Needs Sorting!)
A lovely and plush hotel overall, with lots on site, including shops underneath the adjacent Watergate East complex and and ice rink on the roof. It is a little walk away from the main points of interest e.g. The Mall/Whitehouse/Arlington, but it is set in a nice location and it is nice to be a bit quieter at night. There aren't many shops or restaurants near by so a cab is a necessity for you evening meal. One area of improvement though is the hot beverages in the room. As a British traveller a cup of tea in the morning is a must, and I understand that not all countries appreciate that, but when you are charged a $25/per day resort fee (which is not mentioned on this site bytheway!) I would have assumed that you would get more than two thimble pots of UHT milk, which doesn't even cover the four espresso pods in the room, and two tini cups, of two different sizes (a half cup and an espresso cup) meaning taking turns for the cup is required! I wouldn't have minded too much if I hadn't been charged $13 for the first cup of tea on room service only to be told on the second occasion that I could get a kettle and tea bags for free from housekeeping, and even then I felt like I was scrounging from them for milk. I think in summary, it is a lovely hotel and how they play off the scandal is classy and funny, however getting a proper hot drink set up in the room would help cement the foundations of the luxury theme they are aiming for.

Gorgeous hotel. Very professional staff who make you feel very welcome. Drinks are very expensive though.
