Ok, but...
Should have read reviews before booking. It’s an ok place to stay, location is convenient, premises are nice (although the rooms less so). However, do note that they have quite a few additional charges above the nightly rate which bring up the cost of stay. On top of the nightly rate, there is an additional $40/day mandatory “facilities/resort fee”, which must be paid even if you don’t use any of the the amenities. This isn’t shown on the nightly rate, but they do include text on it in the booking page, even on Expedia and Hotels.com. Most of us (myself included) usually assume that like most hotels it’s already in the price, so we gloss over it without thinking. There is a package charge if you buy something online and courier it to your room. It costs $5-10/ package, depending on the size. This is not included in the $40 fee. If your flight is in the evening and you need to leave your baggage with the hotel after checkout, there is also a fee, $2/bag. This is not included in the $40 fee. Overall, it’s a nice enough hotel to stay in, but if you include all the additional charges into the price, there are equally good hotels at cheaper rates with better price transparency in the area. I will probably not stay at this hotel again until they change their pricing methodology to be in line with how other hotels in their range do it.

Poor 2.0
No valet parking. Gave me $175 room. I paid $400
We booked an Executive King room through hotels.com for $359.80 for one Saturday night. We arrived by car and the valet attendant told us there was no valet parking available because there was a recent contract dispute between the hotel and the garage they typically use. He instructed me to self park in that garage, but they couldn’t valet it for me. I drove to the garage, and it was full. I was told there was nothing they could do. I was forced to find parking 4 blocks away, by myself, in manhattan. The parking cost was $70. While I parked, my wife checked in. She was told that the Executive King room that we booked was unavailable, and we would need to stay in a Superior Queen room. The room currently lists for $197 per night. She told us she would waive the $40.17 facilities fee. I later received a “how did we do” email from hotels.com which I responded negatively. A hotel GM responded to my email immediately and asked me to come down to the front desk. I did that, spoke to a different manager who offered me a late check out. I declined. She then offered me donuts and coffee. I declined. So she finally 1/2 off my room back as a future credit on hotels.com. I told her all I wanted was for someone to go get my car. She said she couldn’t do that because “It creates a possible liability.” I never would booked a hotel room in Manhattan if it didn’t have valet parking. Tons of similar reviews from this weekend. Clearly scamming online patrons.

Very good 8.0
I wrote to ask for an early check-in knowing this was unlikely. They replied and said they would do their best and indeed, upon arrival the check-in staff did their best (as they continued to do) for the next 7 hours as Housekeeping management did not seem to be able to cope with a slight change in procedure. We did get in early, but much less than hoped for. Either way, my thanks to all who helped. The hotel has a lovely lobby and some good facilities. Rooms are interesting. Modern and renovated. Some paint seems a little too overpainted but not offputting. The bathroom seems to have gone with prison chic I think as the sink looked like a jail dunny. That said the B-room was fine and worked nicely. Housekeeping and other staff remained very pleasant and accommodating through the stay. The Hotel is very centrally located - mid theater district, half a block from the busiest parts of Time's Square. I did not find any room service, however, being Manhatten, and especially the theater district, places to eat, shop or take-out are right outside the door. The hotel has a nice cafe and shop and is somewhat smaller than a lot of surrounding hotels in terms of number of floors which makes the elevators generally faster to arrive. All in all this did not quite feel as posh as some I have stayed in but went very close to it, was ideally situated, and had pleasant and helpful staff so I will look to stay here again.

Very good 8.0
Nice, but avoid to ludicrous facility fee.
It's a good hotel, and I must compliment all the staff we came across during our stay (business for the week, and a weekend of leisure). The hotel is very well located for tourists, and it shows in the crazy amount of people in the lobby and lifts each day, clearly on vacation. It's not a problem, and we did make use of their cafe for breakfast each day, although it only opens at 7am. I do regret booking in at this hotel though, as we got "scammed" (for lack of a better word) with their "facility fee", which clearly thousands of other guests feel the same, as in hundreds of bookings on hotels.com I have NEVER received an email prior to my trip trying to justify additional costs for things people dont really want / need. The check in clerk was diplomatic and tried to justify it, but I've booked at and stayed in enough NYC hotels to know it's purely just scam to lure you with a low-ish nightly rate and then sting you the final. I enjoyed the stay, but NEVER again, and on hotels.com it's called a resort fee which I was sure was optional if you chose to actually use the facilities, which we wouldnt. So all in short, a nice hotel with a sting in the tail. Hotels.com needs to make this clearer and more people can avoid being scammed when they get the mail to their non-refundable booking AFTER doing it. I'll go 100m up the road to my regular hotel for myself and all my staff.

Poor 2.0
Lobby was clean, updated and modern looking with plenty of seating. However, don't let that fool you. Rest room was locked to only hotel customers and not the cleanest. The hotel upper levels had a bad odor and room was not very well designed or practical. Pictures on the site is nothing like what the hotel looks like. Poor job with renovation. They tried to look modern but did a very poor job of it. If you are on a tight budget and want to be close to time square, I would suggest it. It's passable but don't expect high quality service or cleanliness. I would have rather stayed at a Holiday Inn or Best Western than to have stayed here. Also, emailed in advanced and advised hotel staff that my party and I would be late checking in. I would have thought our room would be pre assigned and held as we booked far in advanced. Believe we provided plenty of time to receive better service and accomodations. We not only received poor service but we didn't get what we booked. My party of three was split into two rooms because they had electrical issues. This was a girl's trip and we didn't appreciate being split up on our first night. I would have thought they would have upgraded us for the evening to a larger room to accommodate us but instead they downgraded us and gave us two rooms. I work in the service industry and I know when an excuse is given to customers just to satisfy them. They may possibly had electrical issues or they were over booked and did not have enough rooms.
