It is a bit of a drive into Ostuni, but for us this was a positive. A rural location with an amazing setting. Beautifully restored with simple stone rooms and a swimming area that is stunning. It is a family run business where nothing is too much to ask. The restaurant offers fresh local produce and a different menu daily with a couple of choices for each course. They ask you to preorder breakfast but are accommodating if you want to add extras. The whole complex us well maintained and you feel a part if it’s history.

Overpriced stay with tiny room
We spent 3 nights at Masseria Ayroldi. The farm itself was in a nice setting, however for €180 per night it was definitely overpriced. The room was tiny, we could barely open our luggage case. There was also no complimentary water in room. Breakfast quality was poor, there was limited choice and they offered defrosted frozen pastries. You will have to pay an additional €4 for an egg. Very disappointed as we would expect some more local produce to be served. The onsite restaurant is also overpriced with ok food. An aperol spritz was €8, while the restaurant in tourist areas in the region only charge €5. Staff members are nice, but some lack a bit of professionalism. We stayed at 4 different masseria/winery estates in our 2 weeks’ stay in Puglia and Tuscany, unfortunately, this was the least enjoyable.

It has potential but it’s definitely not a top masseria yet. Owners are very kind, but staff in general is not well trained and service is patchy. Just a few examples: loose toilet seat and partially blocked sink remained unattended for a week; drinks and food service was inconsistent; laundry advertised as available but staff didn’t know how to arrange or what the price is (eventually quoted 125 eur for a set of laundry which we got done in town for 20 eur); requested deposit for pool towels which feels completely unnecessary (25 eur); some of the experiences advertised on the website are not available. Overall, 5 star for Instagram looks, but 3 star for everything else.

Beautiful & very tasteful renovation into a series of rooms & appartments of a former farm. Our room was full of character & well appointed & had a little covered terrace area. Stunning pool & grounds. Rather starkly lit communal restaurant which was perfect for breakfast but lacked charm or character in the evening albeit the fixed menu was derived from produce on the estate & perfectly tasty. We arrived by train to Ostuni & didn't have access to a car which was a mistake on our part. Each taxi trip to Ostuni or other nearby villages to restaurants was E20 & in some cases E60 (for a 6km journey). Ideally therefore you need a car to make the most of this lovely, tranquil place ...
