    70's Era Hotel

The Hotel is OK. First room had bathtub clogged had to get a new room. Carpets are very old. First room didn't smell clean. Second room was a whole different ambient smelled cleaned. Stayed four nights. Hotel needs a good dusting and wiping looks like it stuck in the 70's

    Outdated!

Hotel is super out dated, and a little on the old side, but I guess for price you definitely get what you pay for! Paint falling off the walls in the stairwell, if you have to use it, our bath tub wouldn’t drain, thankfully their was a friend at the same hotel and their tub drained.

Always love staying here, but you can tell the hotel is aging. It is time for some repairs. The kids enjoy the pool and hot tub. Always a huge hit. We have stayed here a few times and never had problem. Just wish we were told before bookimg the restaurant was under repairs. Made for more running but we made it work. We will stay here again next time we sre in Ames.

Front desk attendant very pleasant and helpful. But you could barely see him through the plexiglas because it was filthy. The glass doors at the entrance were dirty, the elevator was filthy as were the glass panels in the elevator. The hallways needed to be vacuumed. And our room was not very clean. With covid you would think extra care would be taken. Splatter stains in bathroom under sink and dead bugs. Made us uncomfortable.

    Disappointing

I am not sure why other Hotel.com guests rated this hotel so high. The restaurant is closed, no breakfast. The hot tub was colder than the pool. The only working ice machine was on the 5th floor, and I am not sure what the stank was in that area, but it was unbearable. The room was satisfactory - nothing out of the ordinary good or bad there.

Close to ISU campus, very convenient. It suited my purposes quite nicely. I was able to conduct my business effectively.

Price was OK, and the staff was friendly. The room and facility in general were in dire need of updating... printer in lobby out of ink, ice machine not working, beverage vending machine not cold. No breakfast option at all... closed because of Covid, though other hotels still offer. Definitely will not stay there again! I'll spend the few extra bucks for a much better hotel!

It was fine, but I woulda liked breakfast.

Perfectly fine hotel for the price. It's starting to show its age. Really needs some work done, top to bottom, to make it a little nicer. There were cracks in the facade, chucks on concrete missing in the outside steps, railings in disrepair. Nothing crazy, but also not a great look. Their restaraunt was closed for renovations, which also meant no breakfast, which would have been included in my fee. Considering I'm pretty sure they must've done bagged breakfasts during COVID, it's a bit ridiculous they couldn't fall back on that as an option during a renovation--I can skip a breakfast; it's more the principal. Don't tell me breakfast is included and then tell me I'm SOL because you can't plan better.
