Wonderful
Great hotel. Loved the location just off Amsterdam Ave and a stone's throw from Central Park. Two Metro stops within walking distance will get you wherever you want to go. Superb terrace room with views over the Hudson and New Jersey.

Best place to stay in NYC!
Great sized room, perfectly clean and comfortable. Fantastic location close to lots of good food and walking distance to Central Park, the Natural History Museum, and subway stations to get you anywhere you want to go. Would book again in a heartbeat!

Lobby was a nice surprise
Very "artsy” experience. Comfortable, clean. Nightly jazz in the lobby was a pleasant surprise. Only two complaints. One elevator in each elevator bank was out so getting to the rooms took a while. Second, my room to 15 minutes (yes I actually timed it the second day) for the shower to get Luke warm. Never got hot, but just warm enough to be tolerable.

Could not sleep an entire night as lights started to turn on automatically in the middle of the night as well as toilet flush without any movement in the room. Creepy! Moreover, only decaf coffee. Time to put in some espresso!

I’ve stayed in this hotel for many years. It is in need of a renovation, which I hear is in the works. Staff and location are great. Lobby bar is vibrant and lively (food is not good, but drinks are just fine). Some rooms have impractical features like a safe on the ground and tiny bathrooms with very little counter space.

I'm happy to know about this place
I was really pleased with this hotel. I was given an excellent room, quite comfortable and spacious, with a bathroom larger than that in my San Francisco apartment! It was clean and well-appointed. The bed was terrific, internet was reliable, room was quiet (my room faced 77th and there's a fire station across the way—but it didn't bother me once). I would definitely stay again. The only semi-negatives: the elevators are *really* slow and slightly creaky (like, semi-distressing creaky noises). If you are on an upper floor and need to get down and out in the morning, plan extra time for the elevator. Also, I wish the water pressure were a bit higher. But in the grand scheme of things, neither of these issues mattered. Terrific place—I will stay here again and recommend it to friends.
