Good hotel and stay
Great location and modern hotel. Very friendly staff and comfortable bed. Only issue was our room was paper thin could hear everything from next room.

Great location to explore
A lovely hotel in a great location, close to everything. Staff were very friendly. Only two observations: why have a minibar in the room but no bottle opener, and could milk be provided for the coffee machine instead of powder? Excellent otherwise though - totally recommended.

Great Base to start exploring the city!
First trip to Chicago and chose this hotel.Firstly the location is brilliant. Right in the heart of magnificent mile/loop area and most of the attractions are anything from 0.5 to 1.5 miles away. If your travelling from the airport (O'hare) and using the CTA train to the city use the blue line then the Clark/Lake stop is where you will jump out and its only a 6min walk to the hotel and its safe to walk. A few dollars each way. Skip the taxi. The hotel is also beside the Chicago River and depending on the room you get you can see it. Really nice spot overall. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby and right outside is the jazz club house of blues which did look cool but I didn't visit due to time constraints but it was always busy so must be good. Hotel was comfortable and clean and the room was totally fine except for 2 small issues. Firstly wifi could be difficult to access sometimes which was frustrating but when I got connected it was strong. Secondly sleeping at night could be disruptive due to the noise of adjacent rooms and the city eg:sirens wailing etc. So if your a light sleeper the thin walls and windows might annoy you. Like I said it was more of minor annoyance and Definitely not a deal breaker As the location I think was great. So would I stay here again when I visit Chicago? Yes I would. Thanks Hotel Chicago Downtown for a Great Base to see the city of Chicago. Hope this helps. Adie.

Good 6.0
Dusty room, poor communication
My flight wasn't going to get in until 5AM so I called the hotel the day before. It took about 10 minutes to get through to the actual hotel front desk and the lady reassured me that our room was guaranteed until the next day at 3:00 PM. I had already paid the full price for three nights. After flying nine hours, and getting stuck in traffic from O'Hare for an hour and half, I was ready to get checked-in immediately. The front desk staff said "you are marked as a no show." She had to reinstate the reservation after some fumbling and gave us a room right by the elevator with a grim dystopic view of the corn cob buildings on the sixth floor. The room was dark and small and when I dropped my make-up brush, I noticed tons of dust under the counter top with a sink, which is separate from the bathroom. I frantically washed the brush. Also, there was a previous customer's invoice with his name on it, which the cleaning staff didn't bother taking out. The room also had lots of small wear and tear marks--something I won't expect from a four star hotel. The Marriott Gold gave us free entry to the lounge, which was a mediocre breakfast. The location was superb and the gym was solid, with some free weights and a pull-up bar. Despite these pluses, I won't stay there again due to its value vs money ratio. Its cleaning staff needs to do better.
