Great Hotel, would highly recommend.
Great Experience. We stayed last year and it was not a great visit. We decided to give it a try this year and it was outstanding.

Lovely Boutique Hotel in Downtown Portland
The service and decor were great. My only complaints about the room was that when I opened the room I was overwhelmed with the smell of bleach. It was so bad the first day I thought I was going to have to move. I was there for 3 nights and it only lessened slightly. Fortunately the desk clerk said that the windows opened I maybe it would air out if I did that. The other missing element in the room was the lack of any safety grab bars in tub or shower. Even young people can slip and I'm a senior. My only other complaint was the very high rate for valet parking. It seemed excessive considering I'm from California and we're usually more expensive than everywhere else plus the resort fee.

The room was nice, however we stayed on the 5th floor and it was a but loud from the downtown noise. The restaurant was closed for our stay so we could no enjoy room service which was a disappointment.

A good hotel in a great part of town
Check in slow with only one person working the front desk. Then, after a 7-minute wait, another receptionist came in from outside where he had been having a cigarette -- his clothing reeked of smoke. An off-putting reception to an otherwise fine hotel. The décor of our room was somewhat outdated, the lighting poor. But upon calling downstairs for a second luggage rack, one was brought up with great speed. (What is it with ALL hotels? When two people check in with TWO large suitcases, why is there only ever ONE luggage rack in the room? Obviously, TWO people with TWO suitcases need TWO luggage racks, or is it a requirement that one guest per room always gets a bad back from bending down to the floor for the duration of an entire hotel stay to remove clothes from his/her floor-level suitcase?). Adequate gym with sufficient equipment although one of the two elliptical machines needed repair -- that's half the fleet! Love the location. One final issue.. a disconnect between what hotels.com offered and what the hotel thought was required in pay; on the hotel's own web site, it is made clear that there is a $23/day spa fee added to the bill. The price per room on the hotels.com site stipulates that this is THE FINAL PRICE and that there are NO ADDITIONAL FEES to be levied, no taxes, daily fees, etc. But upon check-out, we had to have a discussion with the front desk as the clerk asked for a $23/day fee for each of the days we were registered as guests.
