Clean (but small) room, lost iPhone recovered
My friend and I stayed 2 nights at the hotel while staying in London. It is pretty centrally located and we are fans of walking. But there are bus stops right in front of the hotel or trains are also nearby. We had a 2 twin bed room and were in the 3rd floor. The floor layout is weird because they connected several buildings over the years (the address is 2-5) so the hallways are narrow and sometimes have uneven surfaces, so watch your step. The room was clean, but small. The bathtub/shower is not easy to get in to, rather high up. So people with balance problems may have issues. There are no outlets in the bathroom (other than for shavers) which is not uncommon in the UK. There is a hairdryer in the desk drawer, which also has a nice sized mirror across from it. The light switches are tricky, the gold one is the master and is tied to all other lights in the room, including the bathroom. To have the room completely dark, you need to turn off the gold switch. However, we decided to leave it on, which left very dimly lit ceiling lights on all night. Which we found helpful for late night bathroom trips. They have a tea set in a box on the wall. I only took the cookies :) I forgot my iPhone in the room and called while I was at the train station. It took 2-3 calls (I had to follow up) to get a response that they located it and would store it in the safe until I got back the following day. They were great about that. Overall a good stay and moderately priced.

Fair 4.0
The hotel room was located in the basement. It had brown walls, brown carpeting, brown, old furniture and there was not a single picture or wall hanging in the room. The bed mattress collapsed when you sat on it and you could feel the springs. It was very uncomfortable. The furniture all looked to be old and I got the idea that they were taken from other rooms that had been refurbished and thrown in to this room to make a bedroom. Of the two windows, one of the sashes would not stay open and fell with great force each time you tried to open it. The air circulation was poor. I would not want to stay in that room in the summer. Overall, I was very disappointed in the reality of the room versus the description. I've stayed in numerous hotels in the area over the years and this is the poorest room of them all.

Perfect Location
Couldn't have been in a better position, no more than a 5 minute walk through the small park it was situated near and the British Museum right next door. The room itself was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed, although the decor was starting to become a little worn and dated. We stayed after a particularly hot day, and the lack of air conditioning made the room feel a tad on the warmer side, although there was a small fan that we put on. We also opted not to have the breakfast as it was slightly on the dearer side, so walked 5 minutes away to a 24 hour restaurant which served good all-day breakfasts for a fraction of the price. All-in-all, a pleasant stay for the price we paid and would recommend this hotel.

Good 6.0
Shabby not chique
This hotel could be amazing but it feels tired and unloved. The staff were fine but not fantastic. The first room I was given was huge but in a basement and the mattress felt like a camp bed. I felt depressed in the room the moment I entered it. I asked to be changed and was moved to a room about half the size but on the 1st floor. That was better but no warning that it would be so much smaller. No safe in the room. Tea and coffee facilities were in an Alcatraz style wooden box nailed to the wall. The TV was pretty dated too and the picture was stretched off the sides of the wide screen. IT was not the sort of place I looked forward to escaping to after a long, busy day. I certainly did not entertain the idea of eating or drinking there.

Poor 2.0
Terribly hot stay
I have booked the Grange white hall for 2 nights 2/8 to 2/8 When we checked in , we were being directed to a different hotel-Grange blooms The room was clean and tidy but it was hot and stuffy at night even with two fans operating in the room. There was no wind blowing through the window. We have complained after the first night and ask for another room with better ventilation but in vain. Finally we moved out at 12 midnight 3/8 for another hotel in Piccadilly circus with air-conditioning Never book an hotel without air-conditioning in London during summer unless you want an overnight saua bath!!!
