The Grange Fitzrovia has been my hotel of choice when staying in London on business. On this horrific occasion I arrive to find scaffolding all over the front of the hotel, builders bellowing at each other and a member of reception staff who is having to deal with it all. I explain that no notice of such work is unacceptable and I would like a room where I can open the curtains and not be met by builders. She offers a rear facing room. Puts a note on my file and I leave, disappointed but hopeful. On return a sullen receptionist issues a front room. I return and am greeted with, ‘Yes, what’s wrong’ in an abrupt tone. My room is change by a second receptionist who promptly issues a room almost as small as a cupboard and directly behind the lift. You can only imagine the noise and my annoyance! The grading for staff is only this one very rude receptionist. The grading of the hotel was generous. I sincerely hope this review is noted, The Grange Hotels group respond and renew my faith in the hotel. On this occasion don’t use this hotel. Usually, a comfortable, welcoming and centrally located hotel with charm. Let’s get back to the latter quickly please Grange.

Stayed here several times, average at best.
I have stayed here on several occasions over the last few years. Mostly due to its location while I have been having some medical treatment nearby. Therefore it has been a fit for purpose hotel for us, for the best price in the area. On arrival, the lobby looks fairly grand, however when you get to the rooms, they are rather dated. On this most recent visit, we were put in a room on the lower ground floor, and even the TV didn't work. Fair enough, one of the staff did try to fix it, but it seemed from the start that they were not surprised that we were having problems with it. Also that particular room was like one of those beds that pull down from the wall? Anyway, after about 2 hours we finally got a marginally better room on floor 1. The bed was not comfortable at all, my husband and I found ourselves rolling into the middle. Previous beds have been better though, so maybe we just were unlucky. The rooms on this visit were 013 & 113. The bathrooms are very tired, I think no matter how long you spend cleaning them, they'll never come up sparkling. Also the shower doors seem to have been fixed to the baths the wrong way around. We have had the continental breakfast before, which wasn't amazing. You can get a full English nearby from about £5. Overall, it's an OK hotel, very tired rooms & not much urgency about the staff so don't expect things in too much of a hurry. But great location.

A frustrating short stay
Hotel was suffering a state of decline, but most likely this is common for buildings of this age in London. The windows rattled all night long in the wind, none of the lights worked in our room when a checked in owing to a tripped fuse. Most frustrating were the staff, some were very nice but everything was difficult, when we went down to breakfast having been told we could pay for it in the morning in the restaurant it was like i had asked the maitre d' to recite Pi to 27 places! I'm am early riser and when in the reception/bar area i asked if it was possible to have a coffee (granted it was 6:30 on a Saturday morning) i was told by the reception i leave the hotel to find one, helpful! Not somewhere i would ever stay again, you can find better hotels in the same area of London and will avoid the irritations we endured

Not worth what I paid-- even in London
Expensive priced dated hotel.... ( looking at prices now , I paid about double the average daily rate - or the rate I can get a room in this hotel elsewhere ..)... Very polite Staff , but room was tiny , at front of hotel on road , and I was woken up every morning by outside traffic at about 05:30hrs !.. Room was supposedly a "Superior" room... but was tiny , and Extremely hot and humid... NO A/C , NO fan !! Tiny dated bathroom , that seems to have been an after-thought , and shoe-horned into a long, narrow bedroom. Because I only had to endure this for 2 nights , I didnt complain or seek another room... I really should have .. but didnt. In light of cost , and conditions of this room , I wouldn't stay here again... but staff were friendly ! I rated "Service" as "Average"... but I actually didnt get any service , but this review makes you rate Service in order to post review ( NO button for n/a ) !!??

Disaster staff
No laundry working at weekends. Receptionist Georgios and shift manager Jose are like a joke. They dont know what services work when in their hotel and make fun of you because asking for help. I waited 30 minutes just to get an answer to my request. At first they told me its working than they say maybe no. After 30 min of waiting because i start to show i am angry they send me a bellboy to say laundry is not working. At least have the courage to say it my face i am 10mt apart from you. A nice located hotel but awful staff.
