Central location but a little dated
Ok check in, staff all seem a bit distracted. One receptionist stopped what she was doing to come over and tell the receptionist they wouldn’t add my honors points as I was third party booked guest. Having stayed in two Hilton’s previously on this trip, this was the only Hilton to say that to me. It felt like she went out of her way to make that point, after ignoring me at check in desk. It wasn’t the welcome I expect from Hilton not the 100% satisfaction guarantee they promise. I booked a suite and was disappointed in its overall look and feel. I understand it’s difficult to work with old buildings but the decor was dated and for one of their most premium rooms I feel it was a let down. On the flip side great breakfast, lovely service staff and the rooms were quiet.

Lovely, helpful staff, shame about the details!
I was in one of the compact rooms on business. It was fine size-wise and had mostly modern fittings. There were a couple of things that didn't stick to the normal Hilton standard though....a bedside table which was on a slant so things slid off, a frosted glass plate on the desk with dirt underneath it. Overall fine, really lovely, helpful staff just a shame about the detail!

Warm an pleasant stay in Edinburgh
Despite the hotel being a little tired and dated in parts it was in an excellent location and served excellent food. It was an ideal venue for our conference. My room was very pleasant and clean although. Yes, the floorboards creaked and the air vent in the bathroom needed cleaning but this just added to the ambiance. I enjoyed my stay and I liked the fact that the lifts were so fast having been on the 3rd floor of the main building and needing a number of trips back to my room.

Do Not Stay Here!!!
My mum & dad booked this hotel through Hotels.com for their 50th wedding anniversary as they had got married in Edinburgh 50 years ago. So after a 9 hour journey to get there. They were told that THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR THEM!!! My mum showed them confirmation of booking from hotels.com. The receptionist RUDELY shrugged her shoulders & said that Hotels.com was an outside agency! After a very long debate, where the manager eventually found the booking, there was no apology offered! My parents were finally placed in a ‘room’ where every floor board creaked and the carpet had vomit and cigarette stains on it. The only sunlight was from a small skylight window! It certainly wasn’t turning out to be the celebratory weekend they had planned! My parents very rarely complain. However it was so bad that they went back to reception to ask for a different room. Thankfully, they were allocated to a different room and tried to make the best out of a bad situation. On a positive note, the staff in the restaurant were nice, friendly and helpful! They asked to charge their meal to the room. However that night they got a bill under their door asking them to pay for their meal ASAP. Normally, we should do this at check out but not at the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor! So do not stay here!
