Ameritania at Times Square
Funky decor with super friendly staff.
This hotel is a funky place with really, really helpful and friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone who works there. The rooms are comfortable and clean with amazing bed linen making sleeping a joy. The area is great and is pretty close to most things we wanted to visit with a subway station a block away. We enjoyed pleasant evenings with a cocktail and the children on the WiFi which kept them happy before bedtime. Would definitely go back again.

Not great!
From first look hotel looks decent, with unique interior. But as we stayed there for a week we saw all the paint chips, scratches on bed rest, sloppy paintwork and broken interior pieces in our room. Room was very cold. Mentioned that to front desk, hoping for a quick fix while we would be out and about. Took two days and reminding twice for that to be sorted. People by front desk were rude and non apologetic or helpful. Housekeeping wasn’t brilliant. On first night noticed previous persons shaved hair on shower wall - that did not get cleaned for two days, one day we were left with soggy towels on floor and full bins in room. On the check out day even before 12pm (which is check-out time) housekeepers knocked on the doors numerous times asking us when will we be leaving. Also hotel is noisy and people keep slamming doors and we could hear it all through the nights. Pluses - very comfortable beds. Great location. So all together our stay wasn’t as pleasant as we wished for - for the price we payed.

7th Ave stay
Great location, next to 7th Ave, loved the water urn for drinking and filling up bottles. Helpful staff. Shower was good, although not too powerful. My particular room had a view of other room windows and the room was very dark. I felt the carpet could have been cleaner...’sticky’ in some places.

A Good Option For NYC Tourist Attractions
Location: Very easy to get to Broadway, Times Square, and Central Park on foot. The negative of this, is that if puts you in the thick of all the noise and crowds, however, we had a 10th floor room that was inward facing, and was very quiet for NYC. Service: every member of the hotel we engaged with was happy and willing to help. No issues with service at all. Said at the door was a great help with keeping out luggage after check out. Cleanliness, Condition, Comfort: I'd say we'll above average for NYC hotels. The room and communal areas appeared very well maintained, and everything worked as it should. Bed, although quite small, is very comfortable. Cons: the only real downside is that the standard double room is tiny, but this is NYC, so it's to be expected.

Mixed bag, don't expect to stay again
Lots of good but some very much not so good. Location is great, room sizes surprisingly reasonable for Manhattan as such reasonable rates, room conditions not too bad, and a coupe of staff were lovely. Not so good: 1: free wifi is in the lobby only. It's expensive if you want it in the room too (something like $15-20 per day for 2 devices). We simply wouldn't have stayed here if we're realised. The info is buried in the room details -- far less prominently than Free wifi notices. 2: Room cleaning can be very late, we were out early one day and returned around 4.30/5pm with nothing having been done. Someone knocked at ~5pm. I guess one could ask for an earlier clean but not something I'd expect to need to for pre 4pm. 3: Some of the staff were distinctly indifferent
