This hotel is in a great location - right by the tube station and close to Hyde Park. It's a bit disappointing that they don't have a mini fridge in the room to keep fruit and whatever else you might need when exploring for the day since breakfast is not included in your stay. Also, the bathroom states that if you leave the towels on the floor in the shower, they will provide you with new ones - however the one time we left them on the floor in the shower in the morning, we returned to our hotel that night to find the same ones (they were still extremely wet) simply hung up on the back of the door and the towel rack - we definitely weren't impressed by that as we didn't have a dry towel to shower after a long day. The wifi was down for just over 2 days of our full stay and they provided "1 complimentary drink" for the very last night of our stay even though 2 people are staying in the room. I had to use my personal data (which is very expensive when travelling abroad) to look things up and do some work. They said they were sorry when I asked about the wifi, but the hotel staff basically just shrugged and didn't say if they were doing anything to remedy the situation. All in all, we paid A LOT of money to stay here and the experience was less than average and I'm very disappointed we chose to spend our money here.

You may end up with something you did not book
Booked an exec room with queen sized bed and was presented with a box. The small double bed was surrounded by three walls so you literally had to climb from the bottom of the bed into it! We went to explain their 'error' at it was clear they knew what they were doing and were just hoping we would accept it and say nothing. So after 20 minutes we weer given a new room, which when we went to it, found it to still be unmade from the previous occupants and still with a standard sized bed. It was not on the executive room floor. We went down to explain their mistake again and they tried to fob us off saying that actual executive floor was just for executive suits and not executive rooms !!!! They said no other room was available. Anyway, I kinda gave up at that point and asked them to provide some drinks at the bar while they sorted the room out. about an hour later we got to the room. So 2 hours to check into a hotel is a record for me. Ruined the start to our anniversary break as we had to cancel plans for that afternoon due to the delays. Other than that - the room was functional - just plain walls and creaking laminate floors (might as well have been a travel lodge really). So don't let the rather plush decor of the reception and bar fool you into thinking the rooms are to a similar standard.

Exceptional 10.0
Staff was wonderful. My room was on the ground floor, which I wasn’t crazy about. The staff member went with me to 3 other room options on other floors to find the best fit. Wound up keeping ground floor room because it was biggest. This area is very quiet. Not much to do in the area as far as touristy things. You could walk through Hyde park.. Kensington palace is walkable. Also, paddington station is about a half mile. Besides that, everything you’ll need transportation for. There is a tube station on the corner, as well as a bus stop.. so, that was nice. If you want to be in the center of it all, this wouldn’t be for you. We went to two shows in the west end & it’s about a half hour to get there. We knew this going in, so weren’t bothered by the location. Everything else was wonderful. Breakfast was great, all the amenities were wonderful. I wound up leaving my prescription glasses in the bathroom of the room and didn’t realize until i got back to New York. Called the hotel at 8:30am, by 10am, I had already received an email that they had already sent them out by post.

if you have breathing problems, simply AVOID!!!
Angry with Hotels.com for listing this hotel as a 4 star. I filtered for only 4/5 star hotels on the Hotels.com website for the single purpose of avoiding sub standard hotels like this one. The Best Western Mornington's own Google listing has this hotel as 3-star. On arrival I was given a lower ground floor room in the basement. When I got to the basement floor I noticed a pungent smell indicating damp - unsurprising given this is the basement of a very old building. The room itself was nothing like the photo's on Hotels.com, it was tiny, the bathroom was so small it wasn't separated by a door into the rest of the room and there was no room for a toilet, hence it was in a separate cupboard sized room adjacent. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly with dried splash marks on the sink it looked like it hadn't even been wiped and there were numerous hairs on the bedding, small+long. Worst of all, my partner and I both suffer from asthma & thought we might have breathing difficulty after inspecting the room - hence we asked for another room immediately but were told the hotel was fully booked. This room was mis-sold. If they intend to put guests on lower ground floors, we should at least be informed of this possibility so we can decide for ourselves. I am very angry with hotels.com and this hotel for a misleading listing and will never stay here again. I expect Hotels.com to contact me to re-imburse me else I will stop using their site immediately.

Very good 8.0
Nice hotel, good location, transit friendly
Hotel is clean and was quiet inside throughout my 4-day stay. Small but tidy room. The bed is very firm - I’d say hard - even with a foam mattress cover on it. Soft and airy, like hotel beds across North America, they aren’t. Only real negative is the street noise that comes from The Mitre pub that’s across the street. My room (111) faced the pub and the punters that drink there are loud & obnoxious. So I heard them drinking until midnight both Saturday and Sunday nights, and couldn’t get to sleep because of the noise. The hotel windows could have much better soundproofing.
